Love the Hoey discs too; nice pull! Springsteen’s “Santa Clause is Coming to Town” is special to me as it always brings me back to a specific Christmas from my childhood in the 80′s when I first heard it. Squier’s “Christmas Is The Time To Say I Love You” is for some reason underplayed and I can’t understand why; it has all the elements of what should really be an instant classic rock n roll Christmas song. I might get some push back on this one since it’s not technically “rock” but worthy of mention IMO. I think Gordon LIghtfoot’s “Circle of Steel” is one of the most beautifully crafted modern(ish) Christmas songs; due to the subject matter it’s incredibly sad but so picturesque in lyric and melody IMO.
