This got to be a joke???????

Def Leppard guitarist Vivian Campbell attended the Van Halen dress rehearsal show in Los Angeles on 8th February.

The show was an invite only rehearsal for friends and family at the L.A. Forum ahead of the Van Halen US tour opener in Louisville, KY on the 18th. Watch a video of Eddie Van Halen’s solo below. The band recently released their new studio album ‘A Different Kind Of Truth’. The first with David Lee Roth on vocals since 1984.

Vivian made the following comments on facebook.

I went to see Van Halen at the L.A. Forum last night and I have to say that, although he’s no Jeff Beck, that Edward chap could have a big future as a guitar player.

LMFAO !!!!! This can’t be serious????…..

Personally Vivian has not really done anything noteworthy(guitar wise)since he left Dio.My 2 cents.

That’s got to be some of that dry, tongue-in-cheek, British humour. If so, it’s funny. Otherwise, ???.

Uh, pretty sure he was joking, it’s pretty apparent.

Even if he was being serious, Beck is one of the best guitarists around. Its not like he was comparing Eddie to Mick Mars or something.

Correct.

In similar way if you told Viv Campbell after watching one of his solos that he’d be better off taking up playing the bass. Delivered with a grin, he’d probably fall about laughing, especially if he’d had a load of people saying he was the best guitarist in the world!
In a way it’s ‘ribbing’ each other over here, it’s obvious that Ed’s a fantastic guitar player and he knows it
:-D

I would love to see Def Leppard make a disc as heavy as the latest VH disc.

Me too. When I first heard Viv had joined the band, I thought they would make some heavier tunes.

One of the bigger disappointments in music history

When you turn on your stereo, does it return the favor?
