JasonA: I’m going by this: http://www.vhnd.com/2013/06/21/van-halen-rocks-the-tokyo-dome-videos-photos-setlist/

Well, I see what you’re saying then. So where did that set list come from, and why doesn’t it match with the recorded show?

Another oddball thing to me is that VHND is reporting the new CD and remasters, but not a peep on the “official” site or on Dave’s site. So the unofficial site scoops the official sites? Everything just seems so back asswards with this band some times.

The “unoffcial” site is an officially sanctioned 3rd party site. But yes, it is quite curious that Van Halen’s official website, facebook, and twitter are all still wishing us Merry Christmas. Curious, but not surprising. If there’s a Bizarro band out there, Van Halen is it. I wonder if Ed will even mention it at his DC speaking gig?

I’m wondering the same thing. …Was realizing that I was more excited and impressed by seeing this and how cool it was than anything we’ve heard over the last couple of days:

Since the official site doesn’t acknowledge the other releases, I see no reason for it to acknowledge this one. I expect the site will be updated for the tour (if it happens).

I’m not surprised at all that the main site and DLR’s site don’t mention it. If this was leaked earlier than Van Halen wanted the info to get out they will probably update their sites on the time frame they were originally sticking to, like sometime in 2016!

Fellas,
Do you remember before the digital era ever finding a VH bootleg on vinyl called “Die Laughing” in the bin of some obscure independent record store? Of course, you do as well as I. It was like discovering The Holy Grail. When the record executives see the sales figures of the latest debacle, we’re going to be the ones who die laughing. Let’s reminisce shall we?

The official site acknowledged ADKOT in 2012 with video teasers/promos and announcements.

I don’t think any record executives are expecting huge sales numbers for this live set. It’s marketed toward the diehard fan base that they know will buy it. I’m sure they looked at the ADKOT figures and they are well aware of what the sales will be. I don’t think anyone is expecting this to sell a half million copies. Then again, every boxed set will be four “units” and every copy of the vinyl will count as four “units”, so who knows how it will be spun.

My point exactly. If the sales are going to suck, why bother? :D

They stopped relying on sales for income years ago. It’s a product to promote the tour, which by the sounds of it, is about ready to roll out.

Yes, while they primarily promoted the video content there was a small image of the ADKOT artwork that was a link for pre-ordering it.
