thismusicsux: strange that **more** remasters are coming out — but (being positive) maybe they are even better sounding than the last ones ;-) maybe? Still re-release / box set most definitely should include demo, outtakes, live etc.But we kinda know that isn’t VH’s style.Every other band, sure

It’s just frustrating. Every other band that has at least a couple decades under their belts will throw a couple bones to the fans. Alternate takes, demos, edits, live tracks…SOMETHING to bring the band closer to the fans and vice versa. We don’t want or care about “perfection”. We crave the raw creative genius. The off the wall, oddball, erroneous cut that was just masterful. We WANT to hear the clam. We WANT to hear the accident. We WANT to hear it ALL, the way it was created. We know the end product wasn’t originally genius. That’s the beauty of it all. I think only Wolf will understand this and unfortunately it will be Wolf that releases it after our heroes are gone.

I agree. That’s the stuff I really want. A nice box set w extras like every other band does. Somehow it seems they never will. Would be a nice gesture to diehard fans. They’ve always been pretty private and guarded w everything. I guess it seems strange since *every* band does it, but VH really hasn’t.

I won’t even go too crazy…
How about the remasters each has a companion DVD for the given year w the official music vids. VH II you get the 3 live videos. Etc.

It’s what all of the old school fans want. We want master copies of the demos and videos and a little taste of the early film from the days we wish we could have been there to see the evolution. They have it. We want it and are willing to pay for it. Instead, we get remaster after remaster after rerelease after Best Of. They let us record the last tour and then release a show from that tour? Come on!?

Aside from the rear cover art, I didn’t see anything there that we didn’t already know. But at least it’s “official” now.

Very well said. I couldn’t agree more with all your points.I know Eddie has always been adamant about not wanting to look backwards/always going forward, never listening to past releases, stating they will NEVER be a nostalgia band, etc. But then, that’s exactly what they’ve done since reforming with Dave. A couple tours of exclusively old material, and one tour for a new album where they play only 3 songs from it live. Now they’re going to release a live album with 95% old material again. Sorry, Ed but I’m afraid the band, for all intensive purposes, is indeed a nostalgia band.

Seems they had to cave into this shmuck in Canada spilling the beans early. Otherwise it would have made it another couple days until it was supposed to be official. Fuckin’ Canadians…and I mean that in only the best way possible! Much love, eh?! :)

Yeah I’m having a hard time getting excited for this one. I thought they may take a page from AC/DC and give us a DVD of the show, and if not that show, hell give us a classic show………..say Oakland. I guess giving us the Tokyo show, is to make up for the shows that were cancelled. I’ve said it before, I hope to live long enough to see Wolf release the Oakland show. By that time I’ll be able to get it in the 5$ DVD bin at Walmart……….

I know there is a lot of complaining on the Live album…I was hoping for something New but at their age anything is worth while.
I will buy the Live CD as anything New released from VH I will get but as I have said I’m not getting the remasters unless their is unreleased demos on there.

If the rumours are correct and they Tour that is great I’m keen to see & hear how they are this time around…I hope they add a few gems to the Tour such as CGTSNM MWM DIRTY MOVIES LUTS AS IS DROP DEAD LEGS etc etc…..And I hope it’s a WORLD TOUR & not just the US & CANADA……

I think there is another Album & Tour in them but hope they dont leave it too long….

Anyway its great we are hearing from them even if its a gig we all have on DVD & CD…

Glad that Jeff verified it’s the entire show. That’s cool they didn’t cut any songs out. And from most accounts, it was one of the better shows they’ve done since Roth rejoined. I for one like the boot of it so much I have it on my iPod.

I’m sure there will be lots of discussion regarding their decision to keep it real and not overdub any vocals, or anything else for that matter. I’m also sure some of us will be listening closely to see if that’s true!

Admittedly, I snickered when I read that it was the definitive live VH album. Of course it is…because Mike isn’t on it and the last one with Sammy wasn’t really live.

You know I have to admit like a lot here this news did not excite me. Funny thing is though when I told my 17 year old son and his 15 year old cousin, both huge VH fans, they were totally excited for it. Then I got to thinking about the release of ADKOT. With that we got a new album, The Down Town sessions, the cool interviews that Dave did with Ed and Al, The Cafe Wha? show, Henson Studios and The Forum plus the start of DLR’s internet shows. On top of that they gave us a great tour with the addition of songs like Women in Love, Hear About it Later and others we haven’t heard VH perform live in over 30 years. They even allowed us fans to film and record it.
To me they should have done the Re-Masters when they first reunited in 2007. It would have made more sense but we now know that Ed was still conquering his demons at the start of the tour and I’m sure they just wanted to get out on the road and see if the fans would even accept them after all this time. They did right by us in 2012 and even though they work on a much different time line than we would like this new addition is much appreciated by this fan. And who knows, maybe given that the remasters will be done from the original analog tapes they will sound better than the others that were done in the past. I’ll buy the Deluxe CD addition with VH1 and 1984 and see for myself. If they do indeed sound much better than I probably will bite on the other 4 when they are released.

Are you sure you’re comparing the correct show?
