I’ve been wondering. If a show fits a DVD9, why would anyone want to deal with swapping discs in the middle of a show on DVD5′s?
If you can jump on a torrent within minutes of it being added, you have a good chance of being able to seed back what you download. Otherwise, your only bet is to keep uploading for a couple of weeks/months and pick up the stragglers. I’ve got a show I downloaded back in September that is just now closing in on a 1:1 share ratio. ronQuote |

I’d prefer not even bothering with DVD5s for shows like this … but there are too many guys out there that want to play everyone’s hero and re-author DVD9s to split them into DVD5s, so I still do them. Actually, I’d even like to get away from doing anything but blu-rays (obviously not for an old analog show like this). guitardQuote |

Not so much anymore … especially with popular shows. There are just too many guys nowadays who can upload 20X the download size of the torrent … and they pretty make it impossible for 90% of the others having a chance to maintain a 1:1 ratio on a torrent during the initial swarm. I’ve brought the idea of eliminating share ratios at Dime on the Dime mailing list … and by the way most people respond … you’d think I was asking for people to be allowed to get away with murder. I believe that share ratios have outlived their purpose. Maybe I’m just out of touch … I don’t know. guitardQuote |

http://english.stackexchange.com/questions/92547/paid-vs-payed A subtle distinction, but there may be rare instances where “payed” could be used in a financial sense, but only where it is specifically intended to be a metaphorical reference to the nautical sense. E.g. “The large award was payed out in small increments over a decade.” You’re implying what is done with ropes in a nautical sense, but still talking about money. Still, “paid” works just as well here and is far more common. – guitardQuote |
