single-8: .I saw Little Richard at 68 yrs old..Chuck Berry at 77..B.B. King at 80 and they all still were greatI saw Richard again in 2009 and he came on the stage on crutches and left in a wheelchair…I was really looking forward to seeing Buddy Miles back in 2007 until he came in sitting in a wheelchair…its just hard to see guys like vanhalen just standing around and not moving much and I havent seen them since 2007.. over 7 years ago…so if you have a chance to see someone take it..It may be the last time…Jim Morrison said it best.”the future’s uncertain and the end is always near”…. In the late 60′s, everyone was more concerned about bringing drugs to a concert than a tape recorder. :(

in the 1960′s there were no “Cassette” recorders like we used from the mid 70′s on, they came out in 1965 but were for voice(Dictation,Speech, not Music) you would have to haul in a monster Reel to Reel tape deck or 4 track tape…8 track didn’t even exist….try carring a wollensak recorder in on your back..(those had Tubes not Transistors)

You’re right about that. You would be surprised the number of recordings that exist that were recorded

with cheap little voice only recorders. The shows don’t sound as good, but they exist.

I did a google search for the wollensak:

How long did it take you to transfer everything that you ever filmed ?

How long did it take to sync all of your audio to the transfers ?

Hello..
The HD transfers took about 30m per 50ft and I have over 300 50 foot reels of Single-8 Film…
I synced the Film Files to the Audio Tracks..that took MANY hours to get as perfect as possible..I spent as much as 6 hours working on a single 50 ft reel(3:30)
so over a year ..I have a TON of vintage 16mm films from 1924 to 1959 and beyond..Im putting some of that stuff on my channel..

What type of films are they ? Public domain stuff ?

Have you ever transferred film for anyone else ?

You could have your own film transferring business.

lots of Home Movies,Documentarys, some unsold TV show pilots,..as early as 1924 up to 1970..
I have my own video/audio mastering-production studio but Ive only worked on my own personal stuff and of course Glenn’s Single-8 Film collection..but If someone has 8 or 16mm films and want them done right..Im the one…S8S

I just checked out a clip of before the show (Fresno 79). Very Cool. I was wondering if this was done with other shows & why did you do it considering that you had a limited amount of film to record with ?

the fresno ’79 clip is after the show..you can see the whole bootleg row in those shots including me (Rob). I walk in front of the camera going to get the wheelchair. if the show ended before the film ran out, Glenn would shoot the Crowd. sometimes before the shows too or after show parties, but not many times….
