ron (11778) | [Much thanks to Greg Renoff for the heads up] A super rare pre-release acetate board containing another version of Van Halen’s 1982 album “Diver Down”! A gem that was owned by a Warner company executive who worked closely with the band. The song order and song titles are different from the actually released version. The EQ and mix are different because it is a version before mastering. Of course, since it is an acetate board, the freshness of its sound quality is wonderful, and it is digitized with the highest sound quality and you can fully enjoy it. 3:03 Where Have All the Good Times Gone ronQuote |

mrmojohalen (6467) | Van Halen – Unreleased Alternate ‘Diver Down’ Acetate LP (from former Warner Bros. Exec) An ultra rare and unique pre-release acetate of an alternate version of Van Halen’s 1982 album Diver Down, from the collection of a former senior executive of Warner Bros. Records who worked closely with the band. The acetate, in NM-/EX+ condition, has a different song order and some different song names than the released version. The timings are approximately the same as the released album, but as this is a pre-mastered version, we’d guess the EQ is different (and possibly some mixes, though we cannot confirm that.) And best of all,, it sounds great. Lineage: Empress Valley boot cd>E.A.C.>FLAC>You The track order on the acetate is: Side 1 3:03 Where Have All the Good Times Gone 3:16 Full Bug (The Full Bug on finished album) 4:31 Intruder/Pretty Woman 2:42 Big Bad Bill Side 2 3:28 Hang Em High 0:41 AC Guitar (Little Guitars (Intro) on finished album) 3:48 Little Guitars 3:41 Dancing in the Streets 1:20 El Guitar (Cathedral on finished album) 3:24 Secrets 1:01 Happy Trails https://www.guitars101.com/threads/van-halen-diver-down-acetate-1982-stu-flac.802466/ When you turn on your stereo, does it return the favor? mrmojohalenQuote |

ron (11778) | To me, “Hang Em High” sounds different, but everything else sounded about the same as the album versions. Anyone else hear anything different? ronQuote |

Same here. Hang Em High has an extra little count-in at the beginning and the mix has more bass. Other than that, the rest of the songs all sound the same. JasonAQuote |

Dave (2308) | I noticed that “Where Have All The Good Times Gone” does not have its intro (which is the end of Secrets played backwards), and I swear there are a couple of extra times they sing the title at the end. Stay Frosty DaveQuote |
