How many people actually have a real home stereo system anymore?
A nice receiver, equalizer, speakers, etc.The younger folk have no clue

The only mp3 player I have is for going to the gym. When listening to music at home it’s on my home stereo and for now is the cd. Looking to get a record player sometime soon. Just don’t know what brand yet.

My “record player” and speakers are from 1982 (other equip has been updated over the years). I need to update my receiver pretty soon, but it’s hard to find new equipment that still has “phono” inputs. Most now have line-level inputs that require an external amp between the turntable and the receiver.

I bought my Kenwood home system back in ’92. The only component I no longer have with it is the multi-CD player.

Ron, if you get a new receiver without a phono input, just get one of these to go with it. I have one for my turntable and have been very pleased with the results. A well-spent $43:

My box set arrived today. A nice, tiny, minimalist set. The box is 5 by 5 and about 7/8ths thick. The sleeves are the album art front and back, and the discs are inside. No inner sleeves, or other inserts of any kind. Just the LP art and the discs.

Although Amazon still has it listed (stating “a release date has not yet been set for this title”) the official VAN HALEN Store says that The Studio Albums 1978-1984 box set has been cancelled.

Their explanation reads as follows: “On February 6th, we began taking pre-orders for the Van Halen Box Set, which was to be released on March 26th (per the record company, Warner Bros/Rhino). However, on Feb 10th, the record company informed us that the March 26 release date has been canceled. At that time, they did not know if the release date was simply being pushed back, or if the release was to be canceled altogether. Today we received the final word from Warner Bros; the Box Set has indeed been permanently cancelled and will never be released in the United States.”
