ron (11783) | http://www.dimeadozen.org/torrents-details.php?id=464381 Van Halen Professionally recorded and mixed audio. Confirmed accurate rip from original silver CD (EAC log file included). 01. One Way To Rock This is the same Tokyo OU812 show that was recently reseeded as a DVD. Somebody requested an audio version, so here you go. I ripped this fileset myself from a silver of “7227″ I bought in 1992. This was one of the earliest, if not the first release of the Tokyo show on bootleg CD. I haven’t heard “I Can’t Tell You”, but I have heard “Got The Miracle Fingers”. “7227″ sounds better than “Miracle Fingers” in my opinion. Living Legend Records releases were generally known for decent sound back then. This CD sounds a little flat and dull, but not more so than any other (CD, VHS or DVD) version of the Tokyo show I have heard. Except for a few rare instances (cymbal wash) the spectogram for this CD caps out at about 14-15 KHz. I guess that’s because it’s sourced from an analog TV broadcast. There definitely is no MP3 compression involved here, MP3 wasn’t even around (in the wild) in 1992 Sammy Hagar was sick with the flu in Tokyo, which strangely makes his vocals more agreeable (to me). Probably my favorite Hagar era live recording. The Tokyo show was aired as a Japanese free TV broadcast (Lawson) in 1990. The audio for this show was mixed by EVH (possibly with Donn Landee) at 5150 studio. I remember an interview from 1991 where Eddie explained the long break between the end of the OU812 tour and the release of “F.U.C.K.” with the time it took to mix this show (among other things). ronQuote |

slimbrspickins (337) | Isn’t “The Monsters Revisited” title a complete audience version of the 2-1-89 show? slimbrspickinsQuote |

vhrob (1742) | Yes the monsters revisited is the audience compete version of this show. Ron I have the silver disc version of I can’t tell you but it lasts forever and it’s a little better sounding with crisper audio than the 7227 version and also double Dutch courage and city nights. vhtrading member since 2000 vhrobQuote |
