I doubt that this will happen. I know that as the saying goes you never say never when it comes to Van Halen. The reason I think it won’t happen is there seems to be a lot of bad blood between EVH and Hagar. Now there may have been bad blood between the VH bros and Roth but that was 30 years ago and I don’t recall Dave spending a couple years on radio shows, interviews and a book bashing EVH. Even recently Sammy basically says that EVH has no balls, not a leader and without one he’s useless. Not to mention saying that this current line up has no chemistry. I mean come on Sam, you honestly believe the 3 VH’s up on stage have no chemistry?
I think the problems with Sam and Ed today are that there is social media and the internet where every comment ever made is saved and can be brought back in an instant. Not to mention the message boards where fans rehash this shit on a daily basis. At least when Roth left the band you didn’t hear about any argument unless you read about it in Circus or Hit Parader or a DJ on the radio mentioned it. Other than that there wasn’t a daily reminder of disparaging comments.
I think we are more likely to see Van Halen do some Hagar tunes without Sam, possibly with Wolf taking on the vocals or shit at this point Miles Kennedy. He seems to be the go to when you you want nothing to do with your original singer. He’s the ultimate rebound singer!

I would love a Van Hagar reunion, with a healthy Eddie Van Halen. They made great music together and I always enjoyed seeing them live, except for 2004.

Here are the songs, in no particular order, that I would want to hear. No Dave-era tunes. We’ve exhausted that already.

WCTBL
Dreams
Summer Nights
BOBW
LWI
5150
Mine All Mine
When It’s Love
FWYS
Black and Blue
Poundcake
Runaround
Right Now
Top of the World
The Seventh Seal
CSLY
Don’t Tell Me
Not Enough
Aftershock
Humans Being
One Way to Rock

I wouldn’t trust anything those guys say at VHLINKS. There are some real winners–NOT–on that site.

I’d love to hear the Hagar era songs done one last time live with Ed in the form he has been the last few tours….

So many great tunes we have not heard in a long time…

EDDIE’S fingers aren’t fingers they are muscle-powered pistons that hammer guitar strings to the fretboard with the force of a rivet gun”.

Do you think if a Hagar reunion did happen they would do any Roth era tunes in concert? I know Jump will probably be played but I really don’t need to hear Sam sing Panama or YRGM.

well they would have to play Panama and ATBL at least….

I always loved Sam singing those two. Kicked ass at both of them I always thought.

I guess this was a case of smoke but no fire – at least I hope so. I don’t doubt the idea was floated and maybe was, or even is being, considered by the EVH braintrust. For people like me who have stayed with EVH though all of his bullshit up to 2007, this would be the biggest FU in the history of VH. A complete slap in the face for the fans who supported 3 tours since. I hope the foolishness of this move is fully realized by the band – aka EVH.

Resident dickhead. I will hurt your delicate feelings.

I will bite, why would it be a shitbag move if Eddie decides to do a VH reunion with Sammy?

It would not be a shit bag move at all. There was this era of Van Halen where they recorded four straight number one albums, won a Grammy, and an MTV Music Video Award for best video of the year–when MTV meant something. Oh, and they also had four sold out tours. Van Halen ruled the world of rock n’ roll from 1986-1995.

I mostly go to Van Halen shows to watch Ed play guitar. I prefer seeing him with Dave fronting the band – but if getting to watch Ed for two hours from up close can only happen at this point if it’s with Sammy fronting the band – I’m perfectly OK with that.
