Dutchie: Why would Ed want to embarrass Dave? If Dave didn’t want this released, it wouldn’t be.

If he was set out to embarrass Dave, he is also embarrassing his name, his sons name, his brothers name & his dads name…

I cant believe people come up with that shit…

Because he’s a spiteful prick. Why not release MSG 08 where Dave sounds good? I know why – Eddie was the weak link. As far as embarrassing the VH name – Ed has been there, done that.

Like it, or don’t. It’s an opinion.

Resident dickhead. I will hurt your delicate feelings.

Ed was not “the weak link” at MSG ’08. That’s crazy. He played very well at that show, especially considering he needed surgery on his hand shortly thereafter. Was he ’81 good? No. But he was sober and very solid. The May ’08 shows were the band’s best since they’ve come back IMHO. If they’re going to release something from VH IV, I wish they would release that. It’s much better than anything from the 2012-13 ADKOT tours. But even if they did, we’d still have to watch Dave’s Gary-ish moves, the stupid hats, the weird jackets, the creepy, strained smile, and the occasional screeches out of his range.

You’re right. Ed was not great for the 2007 shows.

As evidenced by the 2008 Chicago and Grand Rapids show – and pretty much all of the 2012 shows.

What’s with the Ed bashing ?

You have a bad habit of doing & saying stupid shit.

Go somewhere else & rant.

FFS let’s all be happy they’ve released a live gig with Dave. Bash all u want, I spent mega bucks from Scotland going to Vegas 2012. EVH was superb! AVH thundering, WVH solid, and DLR hilarious and entertaining after a few lost years!! Let’s cherish the moments!!

It is indeed fucking bizarre. Seriously, some of the stuff people come up with is amazing.

I see the live album is being put out on the Rhino label. I’m thinking that means there’s not a big advertising budget?

I think any of the members can be a jerk at any time. I think there has been plenty of evidence of that. I recall Ed’s 1982 interview where he ragged on Dave and his 2005 interview where he ragged on Sam and Mike. Regardless, the other member have been jerks at other times as well. I also think Ed calls a lot of the shots but maybe not all of them. Al is right in there making decisions and I think Dave has his input too. I think back to the redubbing of Right Here Right Now, and Ed was definitely all over that. Is it possible none of the member did much with this release. It seems like just trying to fulfill their contract for another album. Maybe none of them even listened to the recording, just trusted someone else was and that garbage would not be put out. I think it is possible no one is to blame and therefore everyone is to blame. Just throwing out a possibility.

Just in case people didn’t see this at Links….

Hey guys, I haven’t even had time to read this thread yet (bombarded with pre-orders!) but I have confirmation from the record company about the release dates:
ONE of the 8 upcoming releases has indeed been pushed back 2 weeks.
The Deluxe (4-CD Box Set) now has an official release date of April 14th.
The other 7 new releases are all still March 31st.

I think it sounds AMAZING. Very excited.

Other 7 releases? As in, the rest of the remastered albums too? I thought only VH1 & 1984 were ready, with the rest of the albums coming “later”?

Prolly means all the incarnations of the live album and two remastered albums. Each cd and record counting as one.
