Vince G.: “I wouldn’t bet on them ever releasing any “old live stuff”, on video or otherwise.”
VHND has announced that VH began streaming some of their early videos online today.

Vince, we already know this and you know what we all want is old, “unreleased” live stuff. When they post Largo ’84, you let us know. ;)

LOL! I went with one we KNOW exists. ;) I don’t think there is a known, complete ’81 era show filmed by the band, is there?

All good anything old will do.

But yes Largo 81 and 84 are both listed as full shows on the VH archive (Pacific Titles) docs that have floated around.

Ah yes. I remember they were listed as “Live Concert” with no location.

It’s obvious that the DLR social media pages have gone black, because they didn’t want an onslaught of negative comments flooding his pages in response to the live VH album. I am getting emails and messages from friends of mine who like VH, but aren’t die hards and they think this whole live album release is a joke saying, “There is no way they would actually release this recording?! It’s horrible!” and “They’re a little early for April Fools Day” and “Strange decision to release such a poor quality recording” and most tellingly, “Looks like Eddie is trying to put the final nail in the DLR coffin”. Everyone seems to have the same opinion. This is the swan song for the band, pulling the curtain back on the DLR charade. I shouldn’t have to say it, but I am a Roth era diehard, but I have said all along his vocals were the weak link (when Ed was playing well). Now it seems they’re trying to force it into everyone’s face and send him off to pasture. As with everything VH related, only time will tell.

This is what I’m looking forward to hearing. I thought this kicked ass.

Indeed it’s a very perplexing time right now. No idea what to make of it all.

Crazy as it sounds…..I actually feel bad for poor old Dave. I know he’s a bigtime multimillionaire rockstar legend and world wide guy who can handle this kinda stuff. But I’m not happy to see all this bad publicity. He did say to judge them harshly at the 2007 press conference but I’m not sure he meant this much. These past couple days have been absolutely insane on the net and radio.

Kind of a bummer.

Playing devil’s advocate, if they released a polished up version of this with the plethora of bootlegged recordings already out there, I think the backlash would be worse. It would be another, “It’s not really live” bitchfest. It’s hard to judge the longterm ramifacations of this one.

as crazy as the VH saga is… can’t imagine this would really be a trick to close shop with DLR. That’s nuts. But it’s strange that a live cd with these kind of issues would be released. They’ve lost their minds or their hearing. I just think someone in the band or extended VH camp should know this isn’t a great idea. Not sure what gets accomplished by releasing this? Lots of people laughing at VH… very little sales/$$$ I’m sure ….negative shit, not much positive

Last night I finally listened to all of RWTD and Panama on the new live cd and yes Dave’s vocals are rough in parts but honestly no different from the countless bootlegs we all heard from 2012/2013 so I personally don’t feel all that shocked or let down. Ed, Al and Wolf are just about spot on and sound great. Yes, Dave is the weak link in the band from an audio stand point but Van Halen with Dave is something to not just be heard but to be seen and that’s why it boggles my mind that they didn’t release a Live DVD of either this show or even one of the 2 MSG shows. Seeing night 2 of the MSG show in 2012 was an awesome experience. The band and Dave were all great that night. I realize they didn’t film MSG but they should have.

My buddy in LA said the same thing. “Dave’s voice is meant to be seen not heard.” LOL! It does perplex me a bit that they would release a live CD/album and not a video, since they KNOW all of this stuff is available out there for free. And so goes the Van Halen circus…;)

Seriously, release the soundboards for the multi cam shows that were put out in 2012 so the wizards of authoring can add the audio track to them. Then have Brian send them to Al and show them how it’s done!

As much as I love Dave both with and without VH, this release is just bumming me out. There is so much shit being talked on Dave all around the internet and I feel bad for the guy. I like the Sammy era too and as much as I want to continue to see the original singer with the band, I also kind of wish Sammy would return. I expect hate for that comment but if he did return I would be willing to bet that the live show would be fantastic. I just think if Dave’s vocals stay the same or get worse, this band is going to keep releasing things that tarnish their legacy.
