guitard (7354) | I can appreciate Jerry’s talent . . . but his playing just never really got my motor revved up. Having said that . . . One of the best times I ever had at a concert was the one time I went to see the Dead play in August 1980. A buddy (who was a big fan) and I brought a case of beer into the show in a cooler (amazing to think that once upon a time you were allowed to bring a cooler of beer into a venue). Once the Dead started playing, I joined in with the rest of the Dead Heads and danced my ass off for three hours. Every ten minutes or so I would dance on over to the cooler and grab another cold one. Even though by the end of the show I had drank a twelve pack – I walked out of there stone cold sober because of the three straight hours of physical exertion and intense sweating. guitardQuote |

mrmojohalen (6467) | Saw GD back in 1991. I thought some of the shows they did with Bruce Hornsby were cool. I was never a big fan. Just like Frank Zappa, I have to be in the right mood to listen to them. When you turn on your stereo, does it return the favor? mrmojohalenQuote |

Chris UK (2998) | This thread has reminded me of the link between Ed and Jerry…both play on Thomas Dolby’s Astronaughts and Heretics LP. Chris UKQuote |

sickman (2380) | I remember back in 95 going on a cross country trip with my wife and on the day Jerry died we were having lunch at the top of the Space Needle in Seattle. The restaurant got really quiet after that. Never really a big fan of their music but have owned a cassette or 2 back in the day. sickmanQuote |
