mdk7691 (318) | Speaking of Brazil, just caught this on YT:
Description translation: By Van Halen fanatic since 1978 collected everything he painted on the hand of live bootlegs (Bootlegs), photos, posters, reports, t-shirts … dreamed of meeting the band and see the live show guys! On January 20, 1983 the band landed in Brazil in Sao Paulo Congonhas Airport to play at the Ibirapuera Gymnasium for 3 nights (21/22/23) and then followed for the Rio de Janeiro and Porto Alegre in the second. I was the glue of the band at the time of arrival until their departure to Rio on Monday. I (age 19) went on all the shows and met them at the Hilton Hotel (Centre de Sao Paulo) before they give the press conference for the press. This was a glorious season for the rockers of Sao Paulo. Van Halen was at the Top of the World in terms of popularity. So many amazing moments with the band (on and off stage). When the special was broadcast Bandeirantes I almost freaked out! Not only I appeared at the beginning of the Special Airport as the guys who made the edition liked me talking HEY VAN HALEN! and put me a few times during the program! I was in the clouds! I remember going to the gallery of Rock and greet everyone … I had been in the middle of fomoso Sampa ROCK! I had this special recorded on VHS, but the time mofou the tape .. Now after many many years I got a copy EXCELLENT (COLOR AND SOUND) Rosana Giampa my friend! Hallelujah! I am by posting to the world to see! I’m sure many people will enjoy! Leave your comments and tell your story with Van halen concert in 1983 in Brazil! HEY VAN HALENNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN!! Here is a copy of the text of Paul Tasca Van Halen’s blog that talks about the season and events: January 1983. At the peak of its first phase, the Van Halen low in Brazil to make presentations in Rio de Janeiro, Sao Paulo and Porto Alegre. Who saw, do not forget. First of all, we must remember how hard rock rolled through here in 1983. Even in Sao Paulo, Rock’n'Roll boiled down to a ghetto. There was no specialist publication quantity, like the one you are holding. Sifting well, until I could see a clip or another one of the few TV shows. He was leaving the air the only good rock radio program, Rock Sandwich, produced by Kid Vinyl Rey and Leopold, to make way for (nãããooo!) Dárcio Correa Campos and Ely. The Brazilian rocker had to go back and fight. Discs were imported rarity and cost the eyes of the whole body. Then the confirmation of Van Halen shows, with ads in newspapers, the hairy hallucinated. View the spot, David Lee Roth’s vocals with his jumps martial art (Or is it ballet?!?) And Eddie Van Halen, at the time considered the best guitarist in the world, was the dream of many crazy people who were much better informed the journalists of the musical season. These same journalists conference began thus: “Would you guys to introduce themselves to the Brazilian press?” That is, not the names of the guys in the band that burst around the world had detonated in the United States with five discs and over five years of monstrous tours, they knew. Ironic, said the quartet singing the theme song of the Three Stooges. In Sao Paulo, David Lee Roth and Eddie Van Halen, the other drunks, freaked the caipirinha. On the night of the first show at Ibirapuera, a lot of whining. Censorship free advertised on TV was changed to 16 years. It was the first band at the peak of his career performing in Brazil and throughout pivetada (now in the age of 28 years) had to listen from outside, even as it faced the queue and buy ticket on the first day. Few remember: the opening of São Paulo was a band called Space Patrol. The lack of information was such that many thought the patrol was Van Halen. Outside all this confusion, which was in memory was that huge lion painted into the background, with a = VH = logo on each side, dense clouds of dry ice, and suddenly, boom! Eddie Van Halen is sliding on his knees to the left, David Lee Roth over it upside down, to right, Michael Anthony tumbling down with the neck and Alex Van Halen slaughtering a battery of four bass drums and thirty-two organ pipes coming out of them, like turbine aircraft. Eddie Van Halen sending one flying with both feet in the amplifiers, after touching an Eruption, fire eating and loose around the stage of the battery. The set list was a great overview of all disks: You Really Got Me, Is not Talkin ” Bout Love, Dance The Night Away, Somebody Get Me A Doctor, Fools, Everybody Wants Some, Little Guitars, Pretty Woman .. . Ready! End of virginity! At least, the eardrums. …Quality looks pretty “spiffy”! mdk7691Quote |

thismusicsux (581) | Well well well…. i’ll admit i haven’t studied the other 83/S.Amer vids recently to compare (i still need to complete my ’83 S.America collection!) — but did quick looks on youtube. 1. it is YRGM being played. Most notable by Dave singing plus his ass-less chaps (did he ever where those during SECRETS??? I don’t think so). I’m thinking it’s real…but wouldn’t be surprised if I’m wrong.. ha. thismusicsuxQuote |

Dutchie (1799) | Maybe Ed broke a string and the double neck was handy for YRGM…. It definitely looks legit. DutchieQuote |

mcs5150 (1096) | Just posted at Roth Army. Here is hoping that it is true: The dude that runs the Royal Orleans Zeppelin site (who is very reliable and kick ass) said this last week… Is that “new?” I’m pretty sure I have it on a VHS I traded for clear back in 90s. You mean the master source? I just rummaged through my pile of VHS tapes, and there it is, “Van Halen Uraguay ’83,” right down to the misspelling of Uruguay. I don’t remember too much about it other than the video quality being similar to the US Festival. I’ll transfer it if anyone thinks it is worth the effort, but I don’t recall being all that impressed 15+ years ago. Given the age of the tape, if I’m going to run it I want to run the entire thing start-to-finish. I should have time this weekend. Back to your regularly scheduled VH reunion thread… http://www.royal-orleans.com/phpBB/v…640&start=1325 I’ll keep everyone here posted. mcs5150Quote |
