Sammy Hagar, Epic Rights and PROMINENT Brand + Talent Partner to Develop Global Brand Program for Sammy’s Island

Sammy’s Island brand embodies the spirit of stress-free island living and features a wide variety of stylish, well-crafted products

08:40 ET from Epic Rights

HOLLYWOOD, Calif., Aug. 4, 2015 /PRNewswire/ — Sammy Hagar has partnered with full-service branding, licensing and social media marketing company Epic Rights and PROMINENT Brand + Talent, a global brand management and development consortium, to launch the worldwide brand strategy and to develop a wide-ranging licensing program for Hagar’s Sammy’s Island lifestyle brand.

“For me, it started the moment I first stepped onto the beach in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico in 1982. And again in Maui, Hawaii,” stated Hagar. “There’s something about the island lifestyle that just makes your soul blissful and keeps you coming back for more. It’s the feeling you get from being in paradise and there’s no denying it. It’s this quality of life and island vibe that I set out to infuse into Sammy’s Island products. And my goal is to take you there–a state of mind that brings it all together. So welcome to my ‘Island’ — now let’s get the party started!”

Sammy Hagar to launch all-new lifestyle brand, Sammy’s Island!

“Sammy’s Island presents an ideal opportunity for us to collaborate with Sammy and PROMINENT Brand + Talent to develop a licensing program around a brand that is more about lifestyle than music,” explained Epic Rights’ CEO Dell Furano. “PROMINENT has very distinct areas of expertise within brand marketing and strategic licensing, as well as the resources and relationships that will deliver a broad range of products across key categories quickly and will effectively communicate the essence of the Sammy’s Island brand to consumers around the globe.”

Sammy’s Island is described as a visual blend of the best of Cabo and Maui’s tropical, laid-back, lush and vibrant patterns and colors that instantly transport consumers to the island life but with a splash of Sammy’s Rock ‘n’ Roll sensibility. Products will be stylish, finely crafted and designed to embody the spirit of stress-free, island-style living. Product categories will initially include outdoor furniture, electronics, food, entertaining, beach wear, footwear, table top, jewelry and wall art, among others. Todd Gallopo, CEO & Creative Director of creative branding and design agency Meat and Potatoes, Inc., will spearhead the design of the brand.

“For the past 17 years I have been lucky enough to work with Sammy on everything from albums to books to tequila, shaping his brands as an artist and entrepreneur. We’ve crafted some visually stunning projects together that have garnered a Grammy® nomination and several spirit packaging awards,” stated Gallopo. “Sammy’s Island is the real deal, and Sammy lives it to his core. I couldn’t be more excited for Meat and Potatoes to visually bring Sammy’s Island to life and capture the essence of the lifestyle he lives so honestly.”

“We’re very excited to join forces with the Epic Rights team to develop a broad spectrum of product lines and key strategic retail partnership opportunities to build the Sammy’s Island brand globally,” added Prominent Leader Dan Levin. “Our strength in brand development lies in the details and by providing an extremely personalized and unique blend of services which support the brand’s message and grow consumer demand and loyalty.”

Indeed.

It seems like he just kind of stumbled into this when the VH brothers backed out of the Cabo business, and he’s been riding this opportunity ever since to great success. I wonder though – how much of this is luck and how much of it is business acumen?

Either way – good for him. He could have been just another aging rock star living off of past glory and just enough in royalties to live a comfortable retirement. But he’s exceeded that by many millions of dollars and continues to exceed it.

Is he? Generic ‘island’ lifestyle products don’t excite me at all. Jimmy Buffet says hi.

Resident dickhead. I will hurt your delicate feelings.

If it turns out that he makes (another) several million off of this deal (which, given his track record, is not at all far fetched), I’m pretty sure that your feelings on the matter won’t bother him.

No doubt… that wasn’t my point though. Maybe if I lived up north and never saw sun I’d think this was cool.. We’ll see what kind of attention this gets. Do you know anyone who would be excited to get the official sammy hagar island-themed patio furniture set?

Probably a little of both, and Sam would be the 1st to admit that. Makes sense, really – it’s a natural extension of what he’s been doing for years already.

Ask Jimmy Buffett…or Gene Simmons.

I don’t know. But if it’s as many who were excited about buying an overpriced bottle of tequila – he’ll probably do quite well with it.

Not that I’m doubting you, but 20,000 people to see Sammy these days?

I see that the show was part of Ribfest.

YES, over 20,000. I was there and it was announced. That fest is a fund raiser for childrens charities. I read that once again Sammy handed the people a check to make a donation as he went on stage which he did the last time he was there. They also said he is the only performer to do that.

Funny, I don’t think Cabo is over-priced – at least compared to patron.. it’s a great tequila. I can give credit where it’s due.
