Special project + couple quick 1984 clips in there.

My wishful thinking is something special around that album. Reissue?
But I’m sure that is 100% pure crazy talk.

More likely album

If they’re looking to do a 30th anniversary package for the 1984 album they better get a move-on.. Maybe it’s that mystical box set just in time for the holidays.

From a guy at links…

Well… I have some roundabout information. It’s very grain-of-salt– it’s literally fourth-hand info. Have no way of knowing if there’s any truth to it, except that it was related to me by someone I know and I trust. This person has no reason to tell me anything that isn’t true, and this person has also had some previous direct contact with the band in the past, though unrelated to this. I call it “roundabout” and “fourth-hand” because it comes from basically my friend’s friend’s friend who works for a member of the band.

Yeah, I know. And I’m not normally one to post rumors, but this seemed very credible to me, given the person I was talking to. We’re both entertainment-industry professionals, and I have no trouble believing that my friend spoke to someone with inside info.

Anyway, the info is that it’s definitely an album– full-stop. An actual album. The other interesting bit is that my friend told me that largely, the songs are new. Apparently, the band wants to answer the criticism over their use of old demos. They don’t regret doing it, but they feel they have something to prove to the naysayers. So, we’re talking– for the most part– brand-new music.

And that’s all I’ve got. I hope it’s true, because the idea of Van Halen with something to prove kind of gets me pumped.

That works with Dave’s 18-month timeline for an album.. If they’re looking to make a statement or prove something – all the better! VH 2015!!

David Lee Roth says in a new installment of “The Roth Show” on his YouTube channel that his band, Van Halen, is working on a surprise project, but he “can’t announce anything or I’d have to come find you and swear you to secrecy.” Speculation is that it may actually be Van Halen’s first actual new music in 30 years, since their “1984” LP. The band’s smash 2012 reunion album, “A Different Kind of Truth,” consisted of pre-”1984” unreleased songs and outtakes.

I agree if VH feels they got something to prove that 100% thrills me…I’m pumped!

Eddie does better work with a burr in his saddle… Compare Fair Warning to OU812. I’ll even compare apples to apples – OU812 compared to Humans Being… Ed always delivers when he’s pissed off. If he’s fired up and wants to kick a little ass we’re in for a treat.

Man if it’s an album where Ed is fired up with something to prove – it’s a good time to be a VH fan! Some of their best work was born outta that mindset and I can’t wait to see what comes out this time!

There IS some NEW music on ADKOT. Not every song was from an old demo.

When you turn on your stereo, does it return the favor?

Yes…Which like most of us we LOVED the whole album.

But some banged on about how they used some old demo’s which I say is a great idea.
At least we got to here the old songs 2012 VH style…

I’m not sure about that. I remember an interview with Roth where he said he hadn’t written anything new with Ed for ADKOT in terms of music. So I think the “new” stuff we heard were demos that never got leaked.

I agree that Ed usually brings out his best when he’s got something to prove. Then again, that doesn’t always work. Van Halen III anybody?

I remember an interview with Ed that said many songs were from demos, some songs were new and a few from somewhere in between.

I assume Honeybabysweetiedoll is a ‘new’ creation… to me that sounds like something they jammed out with Wolf. Everything else is probably from the 2000 sessions or shortly thereafter..

Actually, that was a re-working of Roth’s The Crablouse from the No Holds Babr-B-Q era.
