Dutchie (1799) | The 1984 kit is not Al’s. Its the drummer from Fan Halen’s. It was up for sale a year or two ago. $10,000 from memory. It does look friggin cool though. DutchieQuote |

VOODOO (2375) | I was going to say that looked like the kit that was for sale on eBay. Badass replica! I couldn’t even begin to play it, but I’d love to have it set up in my livingroom…just for shits and giggles. VOODOOQuote |

Thanks Ron. I’d actually ordered it earlier in the year but didn’t get it in the mail for some reason. Mail theft most likely. Have to order it again or download the Kindle version I guess. But I did read the VH chapter on Google Books preview before it was removed and liked it. Crazy time there in Madison. Evidently she’ s hoping someone option the rights to her book for a movie I read on her FB page. Now, from what I remember, she made it sound as though that show outside Chicago at B’ Ginnings Niteclub was a private show. I’ve wondered if there’s more info on that gig. Photographer Dean Simmons captioned one of his shots but the date seems wrong. http://www.deansimmonarchives.com/catalog.php?content=91&album=6 HalenbergQuote |

VOODOO (2375) | Found these on Facebook. Some are small, but that’s how they were uploaded. I don’t think I’ve seen any of these before. VOODOOQuote |

Now that you bring it up… I went searching for my copy of the book, and I can’t find it. Leaves me wondering if I ever had it. I thought I did. I’ve met Susan, and was even in the (radio) studio with her around the time of the release of the VHE. Just can’t picture where I have the book in the house. Anyway, from what I heard, the B’Ginnings show was March 28th 1978, and was for the first annual LOOP party (WLUP FM) – supposedly 98 cent admission. (The Loop was known as FM98) ronQuote |

VAiN (2777) | With the double-neck guitars – it looks like the top is a 12-string but the tuning pegs are at the bottom of the guitar? Anyone know more about these? Resident dickhead. I will hurt your delicate feelings. VAiNQuote |

Found this over at halen.com The bottom neck was a 6 string and the top neck was a 12 string. The reason the top neck looks like a 6 string is because that’s how it started out life. They drilled holes in the aluminum headstock and the strings would be inserted backwards. So the ball end would be on the headstock. The string was threaded through the holes they drilled with the ball end holding it in place. Then the nut was filed for the additional strings. Then they mounted tuning keys behind the bridge so you would tune the octave strings back behind the bridge and the normal strings would tune normally on the headstock. tone1963Quote |

VOODOO (2375) | I don’t think anyone is confused about that. I think the confusion is that, in the pic of the amp heads, there are a bunch of necks and guitar heads without bodies that look photoshopped out of the pic in some way. We get the unique tuners on the Kramer 12 strings… VOODOOQuote |

PT5150 (6290) | Story now at VHND. EDDIE’S fingers aren’t fingers they are muscle-powered pistons that hammer guitar strings to the fretboard with the force of a rivet gun”. PT5150Quote |
