Dutchie: Kind of looks more like Alex than Edward to me…

Didn’t Al first start on guitar??? I think I remember hearing that once… ;)

Look at the hair in the picture- it barely falls below the jawline.

Other photos of Ed show his hair down to his neck.

When you turn on your stereo, does it return the favor?

Funny, I had that same thought.. it’s the nose, right?

Resident dickhead. I will hurt your delicate feelings.

EDDIE’S fingers aren’t fingers they are muscle-powered pistons that hammer guitar strings to the fretboard with the force of a rivet gun”.

Ed’s hair is pretty thick so with him looking down plus the photographer looking up it pretty much would of been up at the back but I think the cheesy airbrushing of the background has taken most of it out. Here’s a couple more of Jenny Lenns pics with the egg t shirt.

I think Bill has pretty much certified this ‘important franky timeline’ pic. Would be great if we could get an original print. Anyone mailed Jenny?

One other point – again Bill and others know more about this stuff than me – what about that cord? I’ve never seen Ed using a spiral cord before.

Spiral cords or as we called them in the UK curly leads  were still quite popular in the mid 70′s but from what I remember disappeared quickly by the late 70′s. I remember many a time you’d walk too far from your amp and either the guitar or the amp end would fly out and either clack your amp or guitar  The other thing they’d do was lock themselves round symbol stands and the like… how the hell they were ever invented I’ll never know.

ffoner: Ron, those Mississippi River Jam pix are great! Where did they first appear? I never saw them before.

Newspaper story to go along with the photos, including one of them on the 2nd page.

Thanks Greg Renoff.
Van Halen’s David Lee Roth backstage with a fan at the US Festival in Glen Helen Regional Park in San Bernardino, California on 29 May 1983. Roth liked his new friend’s hat so much that he wore it on stage that night in front of 375,000 fans.

Ed was such a tone freak, I wonder why he used that “curly cord.” You’d think he’d have some cord preference that he’d never vary from.
