sickman (2380) | Interesting that He and Al are wanting to play the festivals. It still sounds like Ed is the hold out and being very cautious of what Roth wants to do with the band. sickmanQuote |

PT5150 (6290) | Does not sound great. What’s Ed’s hold up ?? EDDIE’S fingers aren’t fingers they are muscle-powered pistons that hammer guitar strings to the fretboard with the force of a rivet gun”. PT5150Quote |

guitard (7354) | Is the glass half full or half empty? I’m gonna say half full because Dave talks with Al on a daily basis and Al is also really interested in keeping it going. I suspect that Wolf is gonna be the key. Sooner or later he’ll give his a Pops a kick in the shorts and get things rolling. But I also think Wolf doesn’t see his future in Van Halen as we know it. And maybe that’s how Mike gets back in. All speculation on my part. We’ll just have to wait and see. guitardQuote |

jroundy (1418) | I think Dave is trying to light a fire. No one is getting any younger, everyone has an expiration. These guys don’t have a lot of time left to be dicking around. Problem with Wolf leaving the band, is that I think Ed’s only motivation is Wolf. Obviously, Al couldn’t motivate Ed to get sober, write new music, or tour. Certainly Ed isn’t going to do anything for Dave. It’s about time Dave said something. He knows it’s now or never. Wolf is the only one with time on his side. The poor folks play for keeps down here…They’re the living dead. Nobody rules these streets at night like Van Halen!! jroundyQuote |

mcs5150 (1096) | While the interview was not good, it was not totally bad (Dave talking to Al everyday). Basically, the only thing I have to add is that I really hope someone tapes the Japan shows. It may be the last VH we see for a while. mcs5150Quote |

Dutchie (1798) |
Al used to talk with Sammy a lot too and look at what happened there…. Dave should keep his mouth shut and let Ed recover for that thing that almost killed him or else he’ll be back being a nobody again… Talk about trying to shoot yourself in the foot…. This is the type of shit that will end Van Halen DutchieQuote |

PT5150 (6290) | A few things to note good and bad. DAVE HAS NICE THINGS TO SAY ABOUT MIKE NO CONTCAT BETWEEN DAVE AND ED Just hope this does not cause tension in the band..Be interesting to see on stage feel during Japan shows.Dave stuck up for Mike a bit & we got to remember without Wolf involved there will be no more VH.I thought they might have a least workde on NEW songs and have more shows booked. I understand and hope Ed healthly and over his stomach problems. I’m sure if he was not Dave might have mentioned it. Who knows with thes guys may be Ed will call Sammy and Mike will come back..Never say never with VH. PT5150 (6290) | Hows the head lines now…. DAVID LEE ROTH WANTS MICHAEL ANTHONY BACK IN VAN HALEN David Becker / Frazer Harrison, Getty Images There’s once again drama in the world of Van Halen, with singer David Lee Roth complaining about a recent lack of activity and communication within the band, and openly calling for a reunion with original bassistMichael Anthony. In a wide-ranging (and frankly, downright inspiring) interview with Rolling Stone that primarily documents his recent adventures living in Japan, Roth declares that he’d love to make more music with Van Halen, but laments that it’s been over a year since their last tour and says that he’s “not sure what’s in (guitarist) Ed (Van Halen)’s mind at this point.” (In fairness, it should be remembered that Eddie Van Halen underwent emergency surgery for diverticulitis at an unspecified point last year, a procedure that carries an estimated four to six month recovery period.) Roth also goes on to explain that he and Eddie “haven’t written a new song in 20 years,” and suggests that the group’s 2012 album ‘A Different Kind of Truth‘ was comprised of even more reworked material than most originally suspected: “Almost all of the music that you hear on our most recent album was written and demoed before the first album.” Read more here. PT5150 (6290) | This bit will piss Ed off I would think. “And what we have at our fingertips is arguably one of the greatest high tenor voices ever – that was in Michael Anthony. In our tiny little corner of the universe, that voice is as identifiable as the high voice in Earth, Wind & Fire, as identifiable as the high voice in the Beach Boys. Van Halen is an indelicate house blend of both – that’s intentionally. So I would always look forward to that reunion.” Is this in turn having a shot at Wolf?? vhrob (1742) | man it will sure be interesting to see what happens now. All kinds of things are possible, Ed gets pissed off neat artice to read. Definately sounds like Dave is getting antcy and wants to do something. I only hope that Ed does not get pissed off. Whether or not Mike has a future in VH or not, it would be such a shame to see them all come apart at the seams and have this whole thing fall to peices. I hope the best for these guys and maybe Wolf will step up again and realistically look at things and help his Dad along. Ed’s been through a lot over the years and it was so nice to see him healthy and happy last year on tour and then the diverticulitous (however you spell it) thing came. I hope the best for Ed and VH as a whole. I hope things do work out for them. Rob vhtrading member since 2000 vhrobQuote |
