Seems that they were direct links to photos hosted on Facebook.

AFAIK, Facebook direct photo links are only good for a short while, and then they go dead. Not sure why, but you can’t directly link to any photo on FB anymore and have it stick around for any length of time. Links to photo pages, or albums should be okay though.
