Panamaniac (207) | I just checked again on YouTube of the 1980 Pittsburgh audio merged with the Minneapolis video and, in the comments, the poster has stated that the audio will be made available to the VH community soon! I gave it a thumbs up and posted a reply for incentive. Does anyone know this poster or are in communication? Judging by the sound of the show, this could be an awesome addition to the 1980 tour collection of boots. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=39iQ9YG2ePI PanamaniacQuote |

b1j1b1 (20) | I’m very excited and anxious to make this available, however I’m still hard at work preparing artwork that will hopefully blow your minds, if you are into that type of thing. It is a huge project as it is probably more like a tour book(and a huge one at that) than a cd booklet. In fact, I believe it will be substantially superior to the official classic VH tour books that I’ve seen. It’s very important to me that this concert be presented the way I want to see it presented, all the way down to the artwork, as it is my single most cherished live recording. Man I used to love the thrill of sneaking in my little tape recorder and batteries to shows back then! If I’d only known how rare a VH show would actually be from that year… The artwork book is actually so big it’s probably gonna be a problem, but I can assure you when it’s finally done you’ll find more 1980 Invasion tour artwork in better quality than you ever dreamed with this, in a format that I believe you’ll find attractive. I love listening to the show and looking through the book(let) artwork. I’ve been working very hard preparing this for a very long time. It is probably somewhat absurd the amount of effort I’ve put into the artwork, but I’m thoroughly enjoying it and I hope you guys will really enjoy the entire project when it’s done. I’m totally thrilled by the excitement the VH community has for this concert (even my brother got contacted when he made reference to it online) and I’m really looking forward to making it available to be enjoyed by VH fans 36 years later. I’ve gotten the emails and I’ve been reading the boards but I’ve remained quiet because, while I love reading that many of you are excited about the show, I didn’t want to get rushed during this long process, as I’ve got a family and a business that take up much of my time. I’m getting close, but it’s still going to take a little while…be patient. b1j1b1Quote |

guitard (7354) | b1j1b1: Welcome! Glad to see you decided to go public here at VHT. There are several VH-related sites out there – but this is probably the friendliest, and the only one specifically dedicated to appreciating and archiving live recordings. guitardQuote |

guitard (7354) | It’s listed as a “private” video so only you can see it. Please change the settings for the video at Youtube to “public.” guitardQuote |

I got if from the gentleman many years ago and had it up for trade here….Sadly almost nobody wanted it……..let me go see if I can find it……found it. It is 9 minutes and 30 seconds long with sound………. mikeyV (335) | Just curious, what is the reason for merging the audio?? The audio I have with this show sounds great (well you know what I mean) I did get it directly from the guy from Minnesota so its not the Pittsburg audio. The video I have was made for me in April of 2006 The Ultimate in Van Halen Vinyl Proud Member Since the First Year– Both VHTrading and the Band mikeyVQuote |

thismusicsux (581) | I love the b1j1b1 audio merge onto the 9minute footage. His Pitts audio I think is much better. Thought the original 9minute video only had fuzzy mono sound? b1j1b1, thismusicsuxQuote |

Panamaniac (207) | Fyi, for anyone looking this up, the audiio and corresponding lineage for “Dance The Night Away” and “You’re No Good” were updated after the post thismusicsux provided a link for. Both songs on the updated release are both now lossless. I believe it’s still up on Dime, JTT, and Zomb. I’m still seeding them.

The quality on the widely viewed YouTube version is not nearly as good as the short clip I found, which is presumably of a quality similar to what you have. The video circulating was darker and not as sharp visually and has inferior sound with an annoying buzz in the audio in one channel. I probably would not have done the merge had I possessed the higher quailty St Paul clip that you have. Do you know if the guy that you got the video from is also the guy(MapleGroveRocker on YouTube) who shot the silent footage from 1980, also in St Paul? b1j1b1Quote |
