mdk7691: Red Rocks info from previously sent message to sbnitro (Scottie) today: I just called axs.com (ticket broker for the show). They said the pre-sale general admission seat availability is based on a specific number of tickets the promoter decided to release for it. Once tickets go on sale to the general public Sat., there should still be seats available in the general admission sections. I only asked about the last two sections towards the top, which were already sold out according to the purchase page I was on. …Hope this helps, guys.

Shit.

Well, guess this means GA/Lawn, or I buy tix thru a broker online.

Vince,
…There should still be tickets where you want them on Sat. unless they were made available and have sold during the pre-show sale. Call them directly for more details and any questions you might have:

The presales don’t release all the tickets. They’re only sold out of the reserved presale seats. There will be plenty of seats on Saturday.

I find it a little suspect that Ticketmaster lists a General Admission Pit for the DTE (Detroit) show.

That’s where the VIPs are. I looked at VIP prices and they’re all the seats listed in triple letters. It can be standing only. I went to a Dream Theater show there and was in the pit and there were no seats in that section.

So they’re expecting folks to pay $1k for a general admission VIP mosh pit?

But TM specifically lists the GA Pit as a special ticket, at $145.50 ($169.40 with fees), which would be far less than a “VIP” ticket.

VIP isn’t so much a ticket. It’s the package. I bought front row tix for face value at one of the ’04 shows and stood next to someone who paid $800 or whatever it was. It’s probably a sectioned off area next to the pit. Who knows?! If they’re $145 they must be close.

One of the brokers I called yesterday said they had access to season tickets throughout the year, so I’m figuring other brokers are probably doing the same thing.

Right, most of the outdoor sheds VH is playing have season ticket packages that people can buy that give them the same great seats to all shows. Well, brokers buy those too, and just re-sell like crazy.

The Hollywood Bowl strikes me as different though, as their season ticket packages are only for normal Hollywood Bowl events. Concerts like VH are considered a Leased Event, and aren’t part of the season ticket packages that I’m aware of. I’ve been to the Bowl close to a dozen times, but never for a rock concert. Should be quite the treat given the natural acoustics.

See, your GA says it’s listed as a “Pit”, but at all of the other broker sites I’ve visited and called, they’re telling me GA means the lawn area. A lot of the GA prices I’ve seen are running at $140 & up.

A lot of GA areas are along the outside of the pavillion where the hanicapped spots are and they sell them as GA/SRO when there is a sellout. I’ve seen people standing up there at DTE before.
