Many years ago on this page I mentioned I had the pleasure of watching largo 84 at a Boston radio personalities house. He knows me, knows what I do, let me watch it at the party and said under no terms could I have said video. My eyes were glued on that tape all night and I had it in my hand, but was totally busted trying to take said tape. It really wasn’t good but.we joked about it. This guy is really cool and we’ve talked.a bunch of times. This was back ten yrs ago. The Uruguay I thought we already did? Along with Rio. I got Rio back in 2001. I know I have the vhs of montevideo. I’ll look through the collection when I get home.

When you turn on your stereo, does it return the favor?

Also which Rio video are you talking about it have you authored it don’t think I have seen it on many lists. When is the last time you talked to this person? Was he in fear of loosing his job at the time or pissing off people he may no longer be in contact with if this video surfaced.

I have no doubt there are tons of videos like this in certain peoples hand’s around the world especialy the US of my favorite bands but unless they fear a lawsuit or loosing friends and connectios or are close friends with the band they should let it out.Hording stuff does no good if your copy breaks, deteriorates your house catches on fire, floods or is hit with an earthquake.I feel the more people that have stuff the better. If someone lets it out not for profit but for a bunch of fans I really doubt they would suffer much backlash if it could be traced back to them.

Hi Paul…back at the old site there was a long thread about video footage from the South American tour which I started. I’ve traded for Rio several times over the years but it has never materialised when the tapes/discs arrived it always was something else from that tour, usually Sao Paulo. Montevideo was much harder to find listed with anyone at all, I think I might have traded for it twice max, but same as Rio it was always something we already had.

If you have a mo, maybe you could check through your stuff please mate as neither Montevideo or Rio are in general circulation.

Cheers,
Chris

Doesn’t VH realize their fans would love to see vintage shows released? I think they are the only band that will not release this stuff.

In case you haven’t noticed, Van Halen is doing things much differently these days – and quite obviously, there has been a big change in attitude toward the fans. For example:

1. numerous recent interview videos
2. changing setlists
3. fans allowed to bring professional cameras and videocameras to concerts

So if the fans approach this with a positive attitude – maybe Van Halen will continue to do things we never thought we’d see them doing – and they will strive to get some of this vintage material out to us.

Paul, if you can check that would be great regarding your list with Rio given at 50mins and Uruguay at 15mins.

Those cherone one’s he gave you, there are a four shows missing did he give you any of these… Devore, Atlanta, Bristow or Richmond?

Regarding the pro shot it’s more likely to be Largo 3/25/84 I’d have to route but it was on the pacific titles as a two part vhs.
Let’s hope this Scott guy shows up again, maybe he’s Noel Monks son

Been having a think about this guy’s friends wife, I reckon she must have worked at Pacific Titles, they duplicated a lot of stuff and from what I remember reading way back Noel Monk asked for a lot of videos to be kept in his possession?

Decatone: This is what made me realise this guy knows what he’s doing …it’s the easiest way to spot it’s not any of the south ams that have already been released, a lot of that footage was probably shot by the same crew so a lot of the angles are similar to Argentina and Caracas.
Shame he didn’t show up here instead of Roth, I’ve always found that a hostile place …he’s probably been skinned alive by now:mrgreen:

Agreed. It might have been hard to tell with a random 30-second clip otherwise, but that is a dead giveaway
