 VOODOO | Got mine yesterday. I won’t spoil it for anyone, so consider this a SPOILER ALERT!! Don’t read beyond this point if you’re waiting for your copy. I thought Ed’s interview gave quite a few insights into the band. I learned that Seventh Seal was a song Ed wrote before there even was a Van Halen band. Yet another “F–k You!” to Hagar for ragging the band for rehashing old song ideas. They recorded 35 tracks according to Ed and they left it to Wolfgang and John Shanks to select which songs would go on ADKOT. Eddie also says that he left the producing to Wolf and John as well as far as the instrumentals go. The original idea for the new CD was to re-record songs that were actually released before, but as B-sides (Girl Gone Bad and Drop Dead Legs were mentioned specifically) and then rework three old demos. It wasn’t specified if the 35 songs recorded included previously released tracks or not, but I would assume they were. Eddie also said their plan was to finish the tour, take time off and release another album. Maybe that’s the plan for next year? Eddie also commented in responce to a question that hinted at the “on again/off again” nature of Roth as frontman and Eddie said that he thinks it was the fact that he was doing drugs, drinking and partying and listening to what other people were saying and believing what they said. He said those people are gone now and they have no problems with each other. I’m sure there are still some things about Dave’s personality that bother Eddie and vice versa, which is only natural. It’s just that they’ve grown up and learned how to accept and respect each other. I only read Ed’s interview and part of the gear review before I had to take off last night. |
