PT5150 (6290) | From a guy at links. Didn’t read the whole thread but I just saw a segment of SWSX Live and LL said he had a new album with numerous guests, including EVH on track number 12. He also mentioned Tom Morello as well. EDDIE’S fingers aren’t fingers they are muscle-powered pistons that hammer guitar strings to the fretboard with the force of a rivet gun”. PT5150Quote |

PT5150 (6290) | http://www.blabbermouth.net/news.aspx?mode=Article&newsitemID=187468 EDDIE VAN HALEN Working On LL COOL J’s ‘Authentic’ Album? – Mar. 14, 2013 According to the VAN HALEN fan site Van Halen News Desk, the band’s guitarist, Eddie Van Halen, appears to be part of hip hop legend LL Cool J’s upcoming album, “Authentic”, due out on April 30. On March 4, the pair jointly released a photo of them sitting in the recording studio, with no accompanying text. The site adds: “Eddie Van Halen is either working as a co-producer, or has recorded a guest part LL Cool J, or for an artist who is recording with LL Cool J. No doubt that more info will be coming in the near future.” On Monday (March 11), VAN HALEN singer David Lee Roth announced during a radio interview: “We’re going to be playing Europe — probably 50, 60 shows outside of the States, starting at the end of this year, and then come back around through the U.S.” Legendary music mogul Irving Azoff, who manages Eddie and Alex Van Halen, spoke to Billboard, and essentially called Roth a liar, explaining, “All the announced dates, which include the date in Australia, the dates in Japan and a date in Wisconsin, are confirmed and on sale and those are real. I manage the Van Halens, and I know nothing about any European tour.” A while back, drummer Alex Van Halen joked with The Pulse Of Radio about a certain affliction nearly every rock band finds itself dealing with. “The joke has become the ‘L.S.D.’ thing, ‘Lead Singer Disease,’ and it’s not an entirely off-base comment,” he said. “Not all lead singers, but most of them, they’re on a different planet. Part of what makes a band. . . it’s like a team! You may have a star player or two, but it’s still a team! Without the team, y’know, you’re really dead in the water.” VAN HALEN will close out the annual Rock USA festival, scheduled for July 17 through July 20 in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. PT5150 (6290) | Breaking news from the Van Halen News Desk: The EVH/LL mystery is (mostly) solved! Finally, the explanation for the first and second photos recently posted by both Eddie Van Halen and LL Cool J; one of the tracks on the LL Cool J’s new album will in fact feature Eddie Van Halen on guitar! What an unexpected collaboration! LL Cool J revealed this tonight at a concert he’s performing in SXSW (the annual South by Southwest festival held in Texas). He announced that his album features several musical guests, including Eddie Van Halen (specifically on track 12). Other guests mentioned were Tom Morello and Snoop Dogg. LL’s new album, Authentic, drops April 30th. This is all we know as of now. A tracklist for the album was released last month that lists track 12 as titled “Getting Paper”, however, that track list might be outdated. In any case, it shouldn’t be long before more info on the track featuring Eddie becomes available. radikal (3892) | http://ultimateclassicrock.com/eddie-van-halen-ll-cool-j-collaboration/ It seems as though Eddie Van Halen is about to appear on old-school hip-hop icon LL Cool J‘s new album. Today (March 14), the guitar legend teased his fans with a picture of the duo in the studio. “Authentic 4.30.13,” read Van Halen’s tweet that accompanied the picture. A quick check at Amazon reveals that LL Cool J is releasing an album called ‘Authentic’ on April 30. No other information has been given, so this is still mostly speculation. The rapper, best known for hip-hop classics like, ‘I Need Love,’ ‘I Can’t Live Without My Radio,’ ‘Mama Said Knock You Out‘ and ‘Doin’ It,’ posted the same photo to his Facebook page. This officially confirms news that Van Halen News Desk had broken last Monday (March 4), when they posted a picture that appeared to show LL Cool J from behind. This is not the first time Eddie Van Halen’s guitar has crossed genres, so maybe you can call it a comeback. Tone-Loc’s 1988 hit ‘Wild Thing‘ used a sample from ‘Jaime’s Cryin‘.’ And, of course, Van Halen famously played the guitar solo on Michael Jackson‘s monster hit, ‘Beat It.’ Earlier this week it was believed that Van Halen were about to launch a large European tour. However, their manager Irving Azoff quickly denied all knowledge of their>plans. |
