PT5150 (6290) | Would have loved to have seen the 5150, MOR or OU812 Tours.. Here’s a few highlights from fans at links.. I saw it in Worcester, MA in 1988. I remember it being in the Fall and going with college friends just after the school year started. It was tremendous. I specifically remember Ed ripping into AFU to start the show. I had awesome seats along the side lower bowl. Can still see the whole moment. The energy was through the roof. Other songs I specifically remember are Panama, FWYS, and Eagles Fly. Wish I could still see more detailed moments from the night but I’m coming up with nothing. I saw them in Indy on the Monsters of Rock tour and the first show of the official OU812 tour in Lexington. Eddie was still playing keyboards on that tour. They opened with Summer Nights in Indy and AFU in Lexington. They played Runnin’ With the Devil and debuted Finish What Ya Started in Lexington. Eddie got mixed up with the setlist and started jamming the intro to Sucker in a Three Piece when they were supposed to have been playing FWYS. When he turned around, Sammy had on his acoustic guitar and gave Ed a what’s up look. Ed walked over to him and they started cracking up and Al just went with it. After the song, he put his arm around Ed and told the crowd “Eddie fucked up.” The crowd went crazy and they introduced FWYS. Great times!!! I saw this tour in Atlanta. Can’t remember a lot of details. It was good though. I was about 5 rows back on Mike’s side of the stage. Eddie wore a yellow shirt, jeans and yellow tennis shoes, lol. I liked him playing the keyboards live as well, Sammy was a perfectly capable soloist to cover stuff like “Love Walks in”. I was sitting on Eddie’s side of the stage. When the lights went down, Al came out and started the drum intro for AFU and I could see Eddie making his way from backstage to the side entrance of the stage with his 5150 guitar. He disappeared for a sec and then he hit the strings with the crackle of the AFU intro before reappearing on stage. EDDIE’S fingers aren’t fingers they are muscle-powered pistons that hammer guitar strings to the fretboard with the force of a rivet gun”. PT5150Quote |

mikeyV (335) | Went to the last show in Denver Colorado. Right around 65000 people. I thought all the bands were great even Kingdom Come. Shot off over 100 photos that day and only 4 or 5 turned out…………still looking for audio or video from that show. PT5150 (6290) | Here’s a few more from links.. MOR in Foxbora sans Kingdom Clone, long day and don’t remember much. Providence. I was there. About 30 rows back. Center of Eddies side. First thing I remember besides the AFU intro was Sam. He seemed so much more comfortable and confident. Relaxed. It was evident the way he walked onto the stage. Maybe they lacked the frenetic energy of the 5150 tour. But it was the beginning of the tight, relaxed, in control and in the pocket type of band they were in the early 90′s. Relaxed might be the wrong word. Hopefully I’m getting my point across. They rocked and it seemed effortless. And Sammy’s guitar was too shiny! Didn’t see it. I saw MOR in Buffalo so I skipped it. Same tour, they just added RWTD to the set. As mentioned, MOR was a long day. VH didn’t hit the stage until 9:30. I remember Sam saying, ” We’re gonna make this up to ya”. They eventually did with a great Syracuse show, from what I was told. They sounded great at MOR, but didn’t have much energy. I’m sure sitting around all day drinking didn’t help, but they never had the same energy they had during the 5150 tour. As far as the stage design…good question. I think it was the same as Monsters. Just a stage. Nothing special or unique, like 5150. Just a regular stage and them. EDDIE’S fingers aren’t fingers they are muscle-powered pistons that hammer guitar strings to the fretboard with the force of a rivet gun”. PT5150Quote |

VOODOO (2375) | I saw it in June (I think it was the 18th) at the Silverdome in Pontiac, MI. For anyone who has been to a concert there, you know it’s horrendous the further away you are from the stage. I remember Metallica being a muddled mess, like listening to them in an echo chamber. It didn’t help that I wasn’t a big fan, so I didn’t even know their music that well. Plus, I took my then girlfriend and it was her first concert ever! LOL! Nothing like a 12 hour metal fest for a first concert experience! I remember sneaking beers and hits off the many, many joints being passed around our nose bleed seats. I loved Dokken and Scorpions and remember their sets being great, but seemed a little too short and I lost my shit when Van Halen finally hit the stage! We managed to find seats on the lower level a little closer to the stage by the time VH came on, but we were still a million miles away. I think there were about 45,000 people there, which is about half the capacity of the building, but taking into account that half of the building was taken up by the stage, it was a good sized crowd. Nothing like summer time and Van Halen! VOODOOQuote |

ron (11783) | I saw the MOR tour on the opening set of date at Alpine Valley – which is only a handful of miles from my house. I don’t recall which day I was there. Sammy fell down and supposedly broke his tailbone on the first night, I don’t remember that. There was supposedly a big sod fight (from the grassy hill), but I don’t remember that either. So who knows which day I went. I had a seat in the rear of the shed, and was getting over a case of mononucleosis. I was right of center, but not far right. I remember the seats back by me not being very full till the last two acts. I don’t remember anything about Kingdom Come. I wasn’t interested in Metallica. I was excited to see Dokken, but was disappointed by them. I remember the lead singer wearing all white, possibly a white jumpsuit. Mono leaves you pretty wiped out, so I remember just sitting there for most of the day. ronQuote |

Drunk or not, saying that on stage in front of thousands of SanFranciscan’s is way over the line and I have him on tape in fresno,1992 saying that..,so its not the only time… he should have whipped it out….was EVH okay with a comment like that or did he just tolerate it?..Roth never said something like that, although a friend of mine said he saw VH at the salt palace in 1984 and Roth was trashing Val..anybody got that show in,Salt Lake City 1984?..Id like to hear Roth dumping on Ed’s wife.. single-8Quote |

Dave made all kinds of references to his unit over the years. Just look at the Largo ’82 show. “She grabbed my dick, whaddaya want!?” Dave frequently made comments about Val’s chest being small. Women would throw their bras on stage and he would say, “Well, we know this isn’t Val’s.” I don’t think he really trashed her, but he would make comments like that quite a bit. On the ’02 acoustic gigs he did on the radio, he would say he was making a movie with her called, “Inappropriately Touched by an Angel.” He’s always taken jabs at her. VOODOOQuote |
