Here’s the deal. Lloyds of London has refused to pay benefits under an insurance policy that AEG took out in case MJ was not able perform for the “This Is It” tour. Lloyds rejected the claim on grounds Michael and AEG defrauded the company by failing to fess up that MJ was a drug abuser. Now the bus. The Michael Jackson Company (MJC) sued Lloyds, demanding payment. MJC claims in public documents — obtained by TMZ — that a number of artists, including Britney, George, Van Halen, Aerosmith, Kings of Leon, AC/DC, Johnny Hallyday and Whitney Houston all were known drug addicts and all of them applied for similar insurance to Lloyds. MJC wants to see how the other rock stars were treated to determine if Michael is being singled out unfairly.  sickman (2380) | The big difference here is the “hard-core drug abusers” aren’t dead yet and trying to collect an insurance payment. Also of the named acts, whose to say they are still using and don’t have a doctor to back up their clean lifestyle.  frankm (4891) | This is stupid. Of course they are trying to get out of paying. If other artists tried to collect, they would again try to get out of paying. This has nothing to do with anything other than money. One wants it the other doesn’t want to give it. Pulling other artists into it is not going to change anything. So what if other artists did or did not do drugs. What do the legal documents say? frankmQuote |
