Joe Bonamassa

I went to see Joe Bonamassa last night at this great place I’ve never in my 40 years been to before to see a show. It was the Springfield Symphony Hall in Springfield, MA. This is a great place to see a show. The acoustics were outstanding in this small 2600 seat venue. We sat in the 2nd row on the right side of the stage right under the stacks. Normally I would wear earplugs to a show but forgot them last night. As it turned out I didn’t need them anyway. The sound couldn’t have been more crystal clear and without the need for the sound guy to blast you out of your seat.

Anyway, Joe’s playing is fa-nominal. This was my first time seeing him play live besides a few dvd’s that I own and man can he put on a show. I’m not familiar with a lot of his solo stuff, mostly just his work with BCC, but soon I will own all of his solo stuff. He started off the show with about 20 minutes of him playing acoustic and his drummer playing a set of bongos that were set up right in front of us. An unusual thing for sure for a guy that mostly goes to rock shows where the band comes out with a high energy tune to get things started. Certainly nothing wrong with it though because as he went on the tempo increased and then the rest of the band joined in. They played a lot of his solo stuff as well as some BCC and even a few homages to Led Zeppelin. All in all it was a fantastic show. If you like the blues and have never seen Joe get out there and see him. He never stops touring and pretty much hits every country on the face of the earth.
