Uploading 1st torrent to JTT. So far its been 8 hrs and its only at not even 1/3 complete on the bit tornado box. The total file size is 4.27 GIg. Upload rate is 30 kb/s.

Is this the usual for uploading? Seems like its taking way longer than it should.

If the Upload rate is 30kb and the Torrent size is 4GB … it is going to take FOREVER. My guess having little to no information is that you are port blocked causing the slow upload rate. But again that is just a guess. You should check if you are blocked. There are several sites that will do it for you. There is also information on opening ports and increasing your upload speed. Google is your friend.

If you want to calculate how much you can upload.

30kb x 60 seconds x 60 minutes divided by 1000 = 108mb per hour. Upload for 24 hours = 2.59gb per day.

That is if you continually upload at 30kb.

I have a 1mb upload speed so mine is 100*60*60/1000=360mb per hour.

I hope you didn’t mention anything about bit torrent. ISPs hate bit torrent because it eats a lot of bandwidth. Their busy model is to sell you more bandwidth than you need, and hope that you use as little as possible (stick to occasional web browsing and email). I haven’t heard much about it lately, but a few years ago there were a lot of cases of ISPs throttling certain customers’ band width because they found out those customers were doing a lot of up/downloading with bit torrent.

When I was living in the UK, I was throttled. My download speed was only 30kb. I was downloading a lot of VH torrents (this was in 2012). Not fun at all.
