That’s funny! I felt the same way when I saw them on night two of the tour. I was right up front and Dave was just a bit off all the time. He had better nights and worse nights, but all in all, he’s Dave and what you see is pretty much what you’re going to get. Chinatown was by far the worst for me. I love that song and was so looking forward to hearing them knock it out of the park at the show. I saw five shows and I think the last one in Oshkosh was the only time he pretty much nailed the lyrics. He always seemed to be two or four steps ahead or behind the band. https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=pcOWTwqasbY#t=1952 VOODOOQuote |

Gilligan (1518) | I like my DLRs with hair, thank you. I think he CAN sing with some quality still. He just doesn’t for reasons unknown… Everything he sings is TOO high anymore, where technically, with his age he should have trouble with the high stuff. If he’d stay in his wheelhouse, I imagine, it’d be fine. GilliganQuote |

I think it was way back on the A Little Ain’t Enough album when I heard the first indications his range was diminishing a bit. He couldn’t do his crazy screams the same way he used to but he refused to dial it down, even on “Me Wise Magic”. I’m with you, I think he can still deliver some quality singing but he needs to keep it in his range or it’s always going to sound forced. PanamaniacQuote |
