I admit – Roth is done

Mac22: Maybe i need to drink more beer. It’s not that he was terrible but it was the whole forgetting the words and the show here didn’t seem to flow. Maybe they were on cruise control that night or maybe a little worn out. Anyway Dave was still a great showman that night and i wish i’d brought my camera instead of my iPhone only. I was about 20 feet away from the corner of the stage and every time i’d pull out the phone DLR would come running over and pose for the picture. With a decent camera i would have had some great shots.

That’s funny! I felt the same way when I saw them on night two of the tour. I was right up front and Dave was just a bit off all the time. He had better nights and worse nights, but all in all, he’s Dave and what you see is pretty much what you’re going to get. Chinatown was by far the worst for me. I love that song and was so looking forward to hearing them knock it out of the park at the show. I saw five shows and I think the last one in Oshkosh was the only time he pretty much nailed the lyrics. He always seemed to be two or four steps ahead or behind the band.

I think he CAN sing with some quality still. He just doesn’t for reasons unknown… Everything he sings is TOO high anymore, where technically, with his age he should have trouble with the high stuff. If he’d stay in his wheelhouse, I imagine, it’d be fine.
