thismusicsux(581) | ah man that’s like 5 miles from me. I’ve been really holding off seeing Fan Halen.
I’ve gone to see Atomic Punks when they had Ralph (years ago) about 3-4 times. They were a great time. Ralph could do Dave like no other and he was just having fun singing music from his favorite band. Fan Halen don’t seem to come close to Atomic Punks (mostly the singer is lacking) but hey… could still be a good time. They do focus on getting the stage clothes / gear right which is kinda cool

Gilligan(1518) | I, too, saw the Punks several yeas ago and was blown away. I then caught Fan Halen a couple of years after that, and they were good but not as fun. The venue we saw them at had a big screen on the side wall showing the stage (I guess so people in the billiards area could see what was happening on stage). Anyway, the lead singer kept watching himself on the big screen throughout the show and it was both hilarious and distracting. The band was tight, though, and they played the hits!

I’ve seen Atomic Punks several times w/ Ralph and thought they were great – mostly bc Ralph was so spot on. But this dude in Fan Halen was a lot better than I thought from the youtube clips I’ve seen. He actually could do Dave’s scream fairly well. And I thought they pulled out a lot more deep cuts than I remember w/ Atomic Punks. Some I was surprised by a little bit tonight:

- Little Guitars
- Take Your Whiskey Home
- So This Is Love
- Mean Street
- oh and GROWTH from the encore before ATBL Overall a pretty good tribute to THE MIGHTY VAN HALEN.

ron(11779) | …and don’t forget about “You’re No Good” – which I don’t think I’ve ever seen done live in person. I didn’t see any VHT’ers there though.  It was a good show though, and thought as a whole, Fan Halen, was quite good.
