ron (11783) | Sammy Hagar To Front The David Lee Roth Band Hermosa Beach, CA — In a joint press conference today at Hennessey’s Tavern on the Hermosa Beach Pier, David Lee Roth and Sammy Hagar announced that they would be hitting the road together in a joint venture of The David Lee Roth Band. “We ran into each other at a Breathless party at the Cabo marina,” said Diamond Dave raising a pint of IPA. “We got to talking about the good old days, and after a couple of hours, and a whole lot of party, we thought it would be sweet to team up and rock our fans.” “Damn right,” laughed Sammy. “Time to get back to our roots. We want to go out and have some fun. I‘m gonna do the rockin‘ and Dave is gonna sing the love songs. You know, like the duet with Stevie Nicks.” “I thought you guys hated each other? Have you put the Van Halen bad blood behind you?“ Scooper president, Lou LaPlante jumped in. “That shit was all for the free exposure, man,” laughed Roth. “That’s what a publicist is for. They tell people you are having a feud, and BAM! You are on all the gossip shows and mags for free,” Hagar snorted. When asked about the specifics of the group, like the other band members and touring dates, Roth told us, “We have a firm commitment from Ritchie Blackmore, and Jeff Beck just has to clear a few things from his schedule.” “We also have commitments from Michael Anthony on bass, and Tommy Lee on drums,” Sammy added. “We also have a shot at Steve Winwood tickling the ivories. Kevin Cronin, who is producing and managing the band, is unable to be here with us today, but he tells us the tour starts April 15th at the Pepsi Center in Denver. We will also be playing a benefit concert at The National Orange Show in San Bernardino, California on April 22nd to benefit the victims of the terror attack there. We‘re fuckin‘ stoked!” Tickets go on sale tomorrow. For more info on the band and the tour, visit: thedavidleerothband.com. ronQuote |
