Replacing Malcolm is impossible and without him it is no AC/DC. He is the founder of the band, he’s the one making all/most of the music and so on.. swedenQuote |

guitard (7354) | Technically, Bon wasn’t the original singer (it was Dave Evans), but AC/DC’s first six albums are credited as “All songs written and composed by Angus Young, Malcolm Young and Bon Scott,” and Bon wrote the lyrics for almost all of the songs. As I said previously, AC/DC drove on without hardly skipping a beat after the death of one of the most iconic singers in rock and a major contributor to the band’s song writing. So it stands to reason that it could do the same if Malcolm has to drop out of the band. I know Malcolm is a big contributor to the band’s song writing, so maybe they won’t be able to easily produce new albums without him. But I think they certainly can continue to perform live. guitardQuote |

PT5150 (6289) | The latest I heard on a Melbourne radio station that has ties to AC/DC is that they are in the studio in May to record a New album with a 2015 release date and Tour to follow..Malcolm will sit it out but may be some of his music and ideas will be used.. Halenberg (406) | Yeah, evidently Malcolm is like the Keith Richards of the band. I guess they could tour without him like they did before briefly, but imagine his input will be needed to compose new material. I imagine he is the type of guy who would probably insist they go on without him. We shall see in due time what happens. The main thing is that he gets better. HalenbergQuote |

PT5150 (6289) | AC/DC Taps Producer BRENDAN O’BRIEN For New Album According to ACDCFans.net, AC/DC’s gear has arrived at the Warehouse Studio in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, where the band will be working from May through July with producer Brendan O’Brien (AEROSMITH, PEARL JAM, RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE, STONE TEMPLE PILOTS), who also helmed 2008′s “Black Ice”. The group’s next CD is tentatively due before the end of the year. AC/DC earlier in the month issued a statement confirming widespread reports that founding guitarist Malcolm Young was stepping away from the band due to illness. The statement, however, refuted rumors that the group was breaking up as a result, saying that the legendary Australian act will “continue to make music.” The statement did not indicate the nature or extent of Malcolm’s condition, but several Australian reports indicated that he may have had a stroke last month that left him unable to perform, either live or in the studio. One source told The Age that the Young family was mulling full-time care for the guitarist, who was said to be having difficulty remembering familiar faces and communicating. While plans for a tour to mark the group’s 40th anniversary remain unclear, singer Brian Johnson told the U.K.’s Telegraph that the band was “definitely getting together in May in Vancouver” to begin work on its 16th studio album. Without naming Malcolm, Johnson also said in the interview, “One of the boys has a debilitating illness, but I don’t want to say too much about it. He is very proud and private, a wonderful chap. We’ve been pals for 35 years and I look up to him very much.” AC/DC’s last album was 2008′s “Black Ice”, one of the group’s most successful later albums, which was followed by a nearly two-year world tour. ron (11770) | http://www.rttnews.com/2318211/ac-dc-nephew-may-step-in-for-malcolm-young.aspx The nephew of AC/DC’s Angus and Malcolm Young might be taking the spot of his uncle Malcolm for the band’s next album. Stevie Young is rumored to have been brought in to play rhythm guitar during the band’s studio sessions for their 16th studio album. Young had previously stepped in for his uncle in 1988, when Malcolm left the tour to address alcohol addiction. A photo was posted to Twitter of Stevie with the band in Vancouver where they are undergoing preparations for recording with producer Brendan O’Brien. The photo was later removed, but not before several fans commented to welcome Stevie to the band. ronQuote |
