Vince G. (2261) | Has anyone else by chance heard anything at all from the new album, other than “Tattoo”? I ask because I know radio stations like to preview upcoming releases with little teasers and such. Today at work I was listening to a podcast of a morning radio show I used to listen to when I was stationed in San Diego (“The DSC, for my fellow-ex-San Diegans), and they said they were going to play “leaked snippets of Tattoo”. However, when they returned from their commercial break, what they did play was in fact NOT samples of “Tattoo”, but rather a quick instrumental 3-song collage from ADKOT. I’ve been playing “Tattoo” multiple times a day since it was released, and I can attest that “Tattoo” was definitely not included in any of those 3 song samples. None of those riffs sounded anything like “Tattoo”. Like I said, there weren’t any vocals, just instrumentals. Initially, I didn’t even think it was Van Halen, and that the DJ, Dave, was just screwing around, but the more I listened to the guitar riffs, the more I realized they very much resembled Ed’s guitar work from MWM. All I know is that what I heard sounded very hard, heavy, dark, and “crunchy”, for lack of a better word. It sure as shit didn’t sound like the classic VH guitar sound we’ve all come to know from Ed. There’s no way we, as Van Halen fans, can base the rest of the album off of what we’ve heard so far from “Tattoo”. If in fact those 3 songs are/were from the new album, we’re all going to be in for a major shock because I personally haven’t heard Ed play that heavy, if not in a long time, than ever. I actually had to go back and listen to it again just to make sure I heard what I did, and all I can say is “Wow”. Vince G.Quote |

Vince G. (2261) | Here’s the link: http://www.sandiegojack.com/global/Story.asp?s=12880043 Now, scroll down to the “PODCAST” section and a little further until you find the .mp3 segment titled “The DSC Hour 3″ for the air date of “1/4/2012″. Load that specific segment, and while the Van Halen portion begins at the 18:57 mark, the actual song clips begin at the 19:32 mark. And, a correction to my first post, it sounds more like there are 4-5 song instrumental song samples. So, a little bit more to get excited about. Vince G.Quote |

Vince G. (2261) | Don’t bother with the link. Apparently, it’s some Nuno/Extreme material. Sorry for getting everyone’s hopes up. Vince G.Quote |
