tommyv (356) | If anyone else is going to this, pre-show libations will either be at the Ale House or the Morrissey House. I’ll post from wherever I end up at. tommyvQuote |

ron (11779) | Hot Ticket: Everybody Wants Some Aug. 5 as Van Halen hits Western Fair The most anticipated concert of the summer rumbles into the Western Fair District on Wednesday, Aug. 5. U.S. rock band Van Halen play a new concert venue at the racetrack in the first blast of a partnership between the district and tour promoter Live Nation. On the road to London, fans and critics have not been kind to frontman David Lee Roth, left, but there has been strong approval for guitarist Eddie Van Halen. Formed in Los Angeles in 1974, Van Halen has sold more than 75 million albums worldwide. Van Halen is touring to support Tokyo Dome Live in Concert, recorded during a 2013 Japanese tour. “If you caught them on that trek, it will come as no shock that this two-hour set features all the same highs (Eddie Van Halen’s fretboard ferocity, brother Alex’s galloping thunder-god drumming and plenty of VH classics) and lows (DLR’s endless jabbering, off-key yowling and penchant for yelling “Guitar!” before every solo),” says Postmedia News critic Darryl Sterdan. Also on the 7:30 p.m. bill is Kenny Wayne Shepherd Band. It is BYOC (bring your own chair) as fans may bring “small folding bag chairs” to watch the show. Tickets are $82.50 ($102.70 with fees, etc.) VIP packages are also available. Visit ticketmaster.ca or call 1-855-985-5000. The Western Fair District renovated the infield of the racetrack for outdoor events such as those Live Nation stages at Toronto’s Molson Canadian Amphitheatre. The amphitheatre on Aug. 7 is Van Halen’s other Canadian stop. Promoters could not be reached for comment on Wednesday on the number of tickets sold for London concert. ronQuote |

floydrose5150 (152) | I wasn’t given the green light until about 10:00 am this morning. While it looked like a sure thing as far as credentials go, it was still up in the air. I thought this morning, well, looks like I am not covering the show. BAM. Email comes in with confirmation. I am shooting the show with other press outlets tomorrow night. Seen VH many times over the years (never enough), met Edward a few times, but this will be my first ever photographing Van Halen live. Counting down the hours. floydrose5150Quote |
