Last Saturday I went to see Mark Tremonti in The Melkweg in Amsterdam supporting his latest album ‘All I Was”.
He was supported on the bass guitar by Wolfgang Van Halen.
It was a very nice, but really short show. Within 70 minutes it was all over and done. Afterwards was good though, because they all took the time to do some signing.
There we had the chance to shake hands with Wolfgang and have a little conversation.

After the signing session (where by the way, we were not allowed to take pictures with the band) we ran into Wolfgang walking through the venue on his way to the tour bus. There we talked a short while more, asking about his father’s health, tour plans for Europe in the near future (which there are none).
I was with the president of the Dutch Van Halen Fanclub and we handed out a copy of the fanclub magazine and showed some pictures.

He’s a very nice person to meet and talk with.
He looked a bit shy on stage. While the rest of the band were making contact with the fans and running around on stage, Wolfgang played his ass off in his own confort zone. The boy really knows how to play.
He only cracked a smile when being introduced by Mark Tremonti. He was introduced as a local boy from Holland – the country where his roots where found.
A big cheer from the crowd after that was said. So I guess there were a lot Van Halen fans that night.

I’m glad I went to see the band and hope Wolfgang comes back pretty soon and brings over Eddie, Alex and Dave to kick some ass.

Thanks for reviews.
Nice photos Brian.

EDDIE’S fingers aren’t fingers they are muscle-powered pistons that hammer guitar strings to the fretboard with the force of a rivet gun”.
