Okay, so I’m trying to understand the timeline here. It’s May 1980 and the band is in Europe. They have a show scheduled for the Fakloner Centre in Copenhagen, DE on May 23rd. These photos seem to adhere to that timeline, as they are from the same date, and say that the show was cancelled.

However, the text of the April 2012 Classic Rock Magazine says that the nose breaking happened on May 23rd, and it was in Italy. Dave supposedly woke up in an Italian hospital, didn’t like what they were telling him, flew home to LA, got a second opinion, and then flew back and performed at the PinkPop Fest.

I guess its possible the band was in both Copenhagen and Italy on the same day, but it seems odd that they would have been in Italy doing a promo (where the nose breaking occurred) the same day they were doing a gig in Copenhagen.

Yes, one quote about “sneaking into the studio at night with Donn” was attributed to DLR when it was clearly EVH saying that.

Clearly it seems the band was in Copenhagen on May 23rd, as we have photographic evidence, plus supporting evidence that the show in Copenhagen on the 23rd was cancelled because of the broken nose.

Other sources have placed the breaking as late as the 26th or 27th, but obviously those are incorrect.

So it would seem that the break happened before the 23rd at some point.
