Yep, your storage will be full, but just let it run, it’ll download/sync to your computer regardless. Then just move the folder to somewhere else (like the others said) and you’ll be on your way. ronQuote |

Dropbox has been doing this for years…. someday they may close this loophole. If your using a Windows computer, and you hold the mouse pointer over the Dropbox syncing icon in the taskbar, it will say you are “Outta Space”, but shows that the file is still downloading to your computer. The poor folks play for keeps down here…They’re the living dead. Nobody rules these streets at night like Van Halen!! jroundyQuote |

My guess is that they made a business decision and decided to allow this to happen so as not to alienate potential payed customers – but at the same time – they don’t advertise it (for obvious reasons). It’s kind of like some of the anti-virus programs (AVG comes to mind) that continue to update and work long after the free trial period is up – which I assume they do because the fallout from people getting malware while using AVG – even though it’s a trial version that has since expired – would be much worse for business than allowing some people to continue using it for free. guitardQuote |

steecoe (1986) | They are not technically giving you any more dropbox space. The file is stored online in the up-loaders dropbox & you are simply downloading it to the dropbox folder on your local harddrive using the automatic convenience of dropbox. I am sure this feature is fully intended to be provided on purpose… I’d be curious to know if the downloader could successfully share the link to the oversize file in their dropbox to a third party, my guess would be no, as this would be a true loophole… steecoeQuote |

PT5150 (6289) | Thanks for this Ron…. EDDIE’S fingers aren’t fingers they are muscle-powered pistons that hammer guitar strings to the fretboard with the force of a rivet gun”. PT5150Quote |
