jorge (454) | http://www.dimeadozen.org/torrents-details.php?id=540907 Van Halen *** This is the 24 bit, 48 kHz version. It can’t be burned to CD and won’t play on many music players. A 16 bit, 44.1 kHz version for burning to CD will follow soon. *** Roland CS-10EM binaural omnis (center section, about 10 rows back, slightly off center to Eddie’s side) > Tascam DR-05 (80 Hz low cut, recording at 24-48) 01. Light Up the Sky Living in Europe, I never had the chance to see VH with Dave, and I have a weird feeling about this current tour, so I finally took the plunge and flew over to Florida to see them. Hated the price tag, and the jet lag, but finally, finally I got to see VH the way they are supposed to be seen. And what can I say: Dave is definitely the greatest front man I’ve ever seen, and I’ve seen Mick Jagger, Liam Gallagher, Steven Tyler and Bono. Haven’t seen Jim Morrison, he might have been even better! All four were awesome. Wolfgang is a great bass player, and, in my opinion, his voice and his dad’s voice blend in an almost Eagles-like way that Eddie’s and Michael Anthony’s certainly never did. I was surprised that Eddie did a new bit towards the end of his guitar solo, so if you usually skip the guitar solos, you might want to check out the one from this tour. And one more thing I have to say: “I’ll Wait” – what a great live song! I’ve always liked that song, but it wasn’t really on my A list, and I wouldn’t have minded if it was not on the setlist. It turned out to be one of the highlights of the show for me, totally unexpected. That keyboard track is so powerful when it’s bouncing around the venue at full volume, and Eddie playing along on guitar is so great. As were the vocals. I was hoping to get some closure with this trip, but now I hope even more for them to come back to Europe one last time.. jorgeQuote |

[in my opinion] To listen to the higher bit-depth/sample-rate files, you’ll either need to listen to them on your computer, or create a special DVD or BluRay from them. There are also a couple of portable hi-rez audio players, but not many people have them. For those with excellent audio systems, and great listening environments, and good hearing …. you should be able to hear a difference between the two. The higher bit/sample files should sound less harsh, and more smooth. However, all that is subjective. Another point is that when the source files are converted to CD quality bit and sample rates, that process can inject things into the audio that may be undesirable. Most good software can do this without problem though. If you listen to your audio downloads at your computer, or in the car, you probably won’t notice the difference. I typically download the higher rez stuff, just because I find it more satisfying to keep the best source available, and do the conversion(s) myself as needed. Executive summary: Higher sample rates and bit depth = better — however, most/many people can’t hear the difference. ronQuote |

georgethree33 (128) | 16 bit is the standard for most music players and CD quality sound. 24 bit is a higher sampling rate is going to give you a better sound – if say you’re using Super Audio Compact Disc, rather than the standard audio cd. The standard audio CD format (the ‘Red Book’ standard) is 16-bit/44.1kHz – so the higher sampling rate of 24 bit isn’t going to work with it and the sound will not playback on most devices. georgethree33Quote |

ModelCitizen (333) | I listen mostly on my iPod after converting to wav files. So the 16 bit is plenty good if I’m reading correctly. Thanks gents. …Zero Discipline ModelCitizenQuote |
