Planet Rock allows people to upload their own work as “free leech.” So anyone can download it and not worry about share ratio. I’ve started uploading shows there because of this. http://www.planetrocklosslessbootlegs.com guitardQuote |

PT5150 (6290) | Very keen to see this. EDDIE’S fingers aren’t fingers they are muscle-powered pistons that hammer guitar strings to the fretboard with the force of a rivet gun”. PT5150Quote |

I have not checked out the site since I moved back to China. I just tried and was greeted with this message: “Either the address you are accessing this site from has been banned for previous malicious behavior… Thy will also not allow one to access the site using a VPN. Quite simply, assholes!!! mcs5150Quote |

Sounds like a good place for this BluRay show, as most of us can’t afford the ratio hit over at DIME for it. ronQuote |

You do realize that because you have uploaded so much, that you’re making it difficult for others to upload, therefore you’re killing their ratio. The poor folks play for keeps down here…They’re the living dead. Nobody rules these streets at night like Van Halen!! jroundyQuote |

++1 Plus there’s no way for me to upload ~20GB in any reasonable amount of time. It would be measured in double-digit days. The only way to have come out ahead on a torrent like this at DIME would have been to jump on it close to the beginning AND have an upload pipe at least as large as the original seeder. Otherwise it’s fruitless. ronQuote |

You can use a seedbox on dime but you need to pay to have one monthly or annualy. But they also work great for doing online trades.Thats what I use it works great for keeping your ratios sky high on all sites.Or you can just jump on some torrents when they first hit the site build your ratio then delete them you don’t have to like the band. There is too much good stuff on ratio sites like dime and thinking others with fast connections or seedboxes are gonna upload less because some people have slowere connections will never happen. gatomike26Quote |

guitard (7354) | I bring this up at Dime’s Yahoo forum every year or two … but it pretty much amounts to a waste of time. Here is my initial message (I think you need to be a member of Dime’s Yahoo Group to read messages posted in it): http://launch.groups.yahoo.com/group/bt-dimeadozen-org/message/124935 I brought up the idea of doing away with share ratios a few years ago, and it was almost unanimously shot down as a bad idea. Like a lot of things in this technology-based world in which we live, torrenting has continued to evolve. So I’d like to revisit this idea. I’ll start by pointing out this: I uploaded a 23.29GB blu-ray torrent yesterday. So far it’s been downloaded 122 times. The four top uploaders still remaining on the torrent as of this posting have uploaded the following amounts: 597.94 GB This comes out to a little over 1542GBs. Divide 1542 by 23.29 and you get 66+. So four uploaders account for more than half of all the completed downloads. Of the 86 seeders, only 12 have managed to upload 23.29GBs. We’ve reached a point where the vast majority of people are never going to be able to download a torrent this size and seed back what they downloaded. The result is that some trader friends of mine are reluctant to download shows like this, because even though they have what used to be reasonably good upload bandwidth – it isn’t anymore. They simply can’t compete with the increasing number of Dime members who can crank out upload speeds of several megabytes a second. I would like to propose the idea of having a leech free week (or better yet, a leech free two weeks). I don’t think it will be detrimental to the good order of the site. The heavy hitters are still going to upload – just like the four big uploaders in the torrent I mentioned above. Erwe has had leech free days before, so I assume it wouldn’t require a lot stretch that to a longer period. If after a leech free week (or two weeks), it’s apparent that the site can’t function properly, then discontinue it. Thoughts? guitardQuote |
