ron: They billed themselves as “The Other Half”.
The “of Van Halen” was never part of any promotional materials for the tour as far as I know.

I believe it was pretty obvious to even non-fans… and what an insult it was that the bass player who didn’t write a note and the replacement singer to make that claim.

VAiN: He’s off that tour now, so that shouldn’t be an issue.

Yeah but they are talking about Wolfie joining the band on a permanent basis….

You mean joining Tremonti’s solo band? Again, I don’t see what the big deal is. How often is Tremonti going to do solo work? He’s got 2 other bands to juggle.

Having said that, it’s a great opportunity for Wolf to do something outside the Van Halen bubble. Good for him!

And having said THAT, have no fear, he knows who his allegiance is to.

An insult….what????… to claim they were the other half of the band? What’s so ridiculous about that? Alex doesn’t write a note either. At least Sam & Mike were out there playing the songs for the fans. More than I can say about the half named Van Halen at the time. By the way, it was a good show. They dug some tunes out that hadn’t been done in a while. And they did one of the best versions of “Right Now” on that tour I’ve ever heard – acoustic with an incredible bass solo by Mike.

Oh & please remember that “the replacement singer” was invited because “the original singer” bailed on the band.

You forgot to mention the replacement singer can still sing the original cannot!

dokkendude:
Anyone know why Creed/Alter Bridge bassist Brian Marshall bowed out?

The real answer is Brian Marshall likes his partying too much. That was the information I was given.

Yeah I dont follow those bands at all so I dont know how often it would take Wolfies attention…..Dont get me wrong I think it’s cool that Wolf is doing his own thing, my only point was that If Wolfie is Eds motivating factor, then during any amount of time Wolfie is away from the VH camp I wouldnt expect any progress on anything VH related….That’s all….

Alex is waaaaaaaaaaaaaay more important to the VH creative process than the bass player ever was. I have a lot of love & respect for what Mike did in CVH, but latching on to hagar and his stupid ‘other half’ idea was dumb. I’m not a fan of post 84 VH, so the killer version of right now is completely lost on me – even with a bass solo.

I posted this in another thread – but to that point – http://www.metalexpressradio.com/interviews/Wolfgang_Van_Halen_Interview_2012.m3u Wolf mentions Ed calling him and playing some new idea(s). Warms my little heart.
