Van Halen to Perform at 2015 Billboard Music Awards
By Lars Brandle | May 01, 2015 11:00 AM EDT

You might as well “jump” to this news: Van Halen will play the 2015 Billboard Music Awards.

Billboard and dick clark productions today announced the legendary rock group would join the line-up of performers for the big show later this month.

Van Halen’s participation at the annual gala is a real coup, and they’ll give a rock-hard edge to proceedings. The veteran outfit has sold close to 100 million records and they earned induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame back in 2007. Numbers only tell part of the tale. In Eddie Van Halen, the group has one of the best guitarists ever to plug in. His brother, the drummer Alex, is a relentless, underrated talent, and the returning frontman David Lee Roth is a born entertainer and a one-of-a-kind performer. Indeed, the current lineup with Eddie’s son Wolfgang on bass will make its first performance at an awards show for the BBMAs.

They’ll join a stellar lineup that already includes Kelly Clarkson, Hozier, Nick Jonas, Ed Sheeran and Sam Smith. The night will also feature special duet performances by Empire recording artists Jussie Smollett and Bryshere “Yazz” Gray with Estelle, Fall Out Boy featuring Wiz Khalifa, Britney Spears and Iggy Azalea and Meghan Trainor featuring John Legend.

So, what do you all think, will they open the show or close the show? My guess is open.

Great news! I’m thinking the opening too, but whichever one, I hope Dave leaves his baton at home. :)

This is Dave’s chance to turn this thing around and shut the haters up… I say it’s 50/50.

Resident dickhead. I will hurt your delicate feelings.

I hope it is better than 50/50 otherwise it won’t improve ticket sales

How about DROP DEAD LEGS..

I know I’m dreaming…

For heaven’s sake…..if they do Jump or RWTD I will be so bummed. YRGM i can live with but I would prefer something different than the normal standard hits.

They’ll play Jump…. maybe Panama.

Still really cool that they are doing more TV appearances… maybe they will show up on Fallon, or Letterman.

The poor folks play for keeps down here…They’re the living dead. Nobody rules these streets at night like Van Halen!!

Letterman released the list of guests for his final season and VH wasn’t listed. I was hoping they would be on there.

ditto to the tenth degree! big let down if they pull that one out..! the only thing to make that work is if Ed play the keys and axe!

Jump was their only #1 hit with Dave, so it only makes sense that they would do it for a Billboard Music Award show.

VH would have very little say in what song they would get to perform. The organizers would decided for them.
