Rockin’ Roger” – “the wild man west of the rockies” he has sold VH boots for decades

I think I used to trade with him in the very early 90′s….

WOTR…?

That’s the one. But why would Roger have spooked DJ? He was long gone before DJ came out with the master tapes of the Fresno shows on Youtube. In fact, I don’t remember Roger being around after 2003-2004 when the Dallas Diver flap was happening….

I don’t think he was around here, at this site, but I think it may have been him that was advertising it for sale based on anticipation here and clips on YouTube. I am working from memory…but I am pretty sure I remember his name coming up and DJ being upset and commenting about it in the thread here….(well the old site)

His big thing was “custom color covers” back then….I think he did the sleeves for a few boot albums in the 80′s. Rock Express comes to mind, and I think an US festival one as well.. I am sure there are others but I think I have those two packed away somewhere

I thought the whole thing with dj never happened due to health and other personal reasons.

Early on, DJ did mention having to work through some personal issues. I kept in touch with him – he answered back some of the time and said he was still interested, but didn’t have the equipment to capture the video and he didn’t want to mail out his master tape (the original film had been destroyed in a fire years ago). At one point, I was seriously considering buying him a firewire card to install in his computer and I was going to mail him an analog-to-digital converter device so that he could do a proper capture of the video. But he seemed really unsure about being able to do it. Responses from him became fewer and fewer, and eventually he just completely stopped responding. And then a year or two later – someone was able to buy a copy from him.

Roger is a good guy. I love how people go off and say someone is a seller. I was a seller. no one bans me or calls me a seller….Sometimes still do very rare and its mostly to send discs to someone and covers blanks, shipping, packaging. If someone bought something from me I always supplied artwork, hard plastic case and sometimes even shrink wrapped them…oh yeah…disc artwork too!! it looked and was…mostly…and real looking product that was sold. Not just a disc in a white envelope sent in a used mailer!!! I sold on ebay from 2002-2005 and made decent money. Then technology took over and I quit. I think you have to take a look and revisit the thought of seller. Some folks are just pure scumbags that sell and some do it for legit reasons. I feel if I sell a few here and there to pay for my tickets, hotel, whatever it took to make a product then Im fine with it. Im not strickly selling to everyone either! and I would never….EVER…sell to anyone here on VHTrade.com….its called VHTRADE!!! not VHSELL!!! I cant troll the folks that have helped me…thats like sleeping with your mom and sister…and that aint happening.

I will admit I have huge chuckles that people are not uploading the ’81 Memphis show on dime or other torrent sites. Just keep it in the family!! its special to us fans…REAL fans! that collect music and the stories that go along with the recordings.

now Roger….he’s old school and when LPs were “IN” ..roger…was THE man with the colored vinyl. I wouldnt knock him too much. He’s always been a great guy to me!

“HI ROGER!!!!”

I don’t know what happened to Roger after the VHML broke up, but he appears to be still around, his Facebook page is here: http://www.facebook.com/roger.kinney.18

I never personally met Roger, but exchanged many E-Mails over the years. Roger always seemed like a good guy to me.
