Without listening, I would say that the best prior release was probably this one: http://www.vhboots.com/flooremforum.html
The sample posted on DIME sounds very good to me.

Montreal Forum, Montreal, QC, Canada 27th October 1982 TRULY PERFECT SOUND

★UPGRADE!!!

The traditional recording that conveys the era of “DIVER DOWN” has been upgraded to the complete version! It has been decided to release it in a definitive edition specification that also includes the famous video of the same day.
This work contains two audience records born from one show. This is a three-disc set with the best recording of “Montreal performance on October 27, 1982″ on DISC 1-2 and the full video on DISC 3. Speaking of “HIDE YOUR SHEEP Tour”, this week also features the shocking new press masterpiece “WORCESTER 1982 1ST NIGHT SOUNDBOARD (Zodiac 700)” and “3RD NIGHT SOUNDBOARD (Zodiac 701)”. First of all, let’s check the positional relationship of each from the overview of the activities at that time.

●1982
“DIVER DOWN” released on April 14th
・July 14th – August 21st: North America #1 (26 performances)
・September 1st – 25th: North America #2 (17 performances)
・October 7th – December 11th: North America #3 (38 performances) ←★Here★
●1983
・January 16th – February 12th: South America (15 performances)
・May 29th: US Festival appearance

This is VAN HALEN in the “DIVER DOWN” era. Their first South American tour was also held, but all the rest were North America. Both this work and the two new soundboard masterpieces were recorded on the largest leg “North America #3″. Let’s focus on the dates further.

●Details of “North America #3″
・October 7-20 (8 performances)
*October 22 “WORCESTER 1982 1ST NIGHT”
・October 23: Worcester performance
*October 24 “WORCESTER 1982 3RD NIGHT”
・October 26: Toronto performance
*October 27: Montreal performance ←★This work★
・October 30-December 11 (25 performances)

… and so on. Both of the soundboards were from the Worcester 3DAYS, but the Montreal performance of this work was also the most recent. This show is known above all for the fact that both recordings and videos representing the tour were left behind, and this work is a three-disc set that sets the highest peak update masters of both. Now, let’s introduce each one individually.

[DISC 1-2: Complete version of the famous recording that was also pressed]
The main focus of this work is the superb audience recording. This is a famous recording that was once pressed as “MONTREAL 1982 (Zodiac 103)”, but this time the upgraded master has been newly excavated. It is the 2nd generation master excavated from the collection of “GManOF”, a famous German core collector, and not only does it have a fresher sound, but the recording time is even bigger. The numbers that were cut on the old press are also recorded, and it has evolved into a complete version that captures the whole show. The full set is organized below, so you can feel the upgrade. Moreover, this
work is the apex board that further refines such a newly excavated master. In the first place, it is a superb sound that can be pressed even with the conventional master, but the personality of the slightly stronger bass has not changed. Therefore, in this work, the balance of the entire ensemble is adjusted. By getting as close as possible to the sound output at that time, the best sound with even better clarity is realized.

●Diver Down
: Where Have All Those Good Times Gone! / Hang ‘Em High / Little Guitars / Cathedral / Secrets / Intruder / Oh! Pretty Women / The Full Bug / Happy Trails
●Others
: Fuse of Flame: Runnin’ With The Devil / Jamies Cryin’ (★) / Ice Cream Man / Eruption / Ain’t Talkin’ ‘Bout Love (★) / You Really Got Me
; Legendary Bomber: Somebody Dance The Night Away / Get Me A Doctor / Bottoms Up!
・Dark Law: Romeo Delight (★) / Unchained / Everybody Wants Some!!
*Note: The “★” mark is a song that was not included in the old press “MONTREAL 1982 (Zodiac 103)”.

[DISC 3: The original master of the historical audience shot]
Such a full live album alone is full of heart, but the video version that fills you up even more is an upgrade master that is never just a bonus. It is a master master that was excavated in recent years. The beauty of the image is astounding. In the first place, it is the legendary image that has been called the first audience shot (after that, the 1979 8mm image and the 1981 Memphis image were also discovered, and it is no longer the oldest), so although the analog feeling of the equipment cannot be denied, the freshness is as fresh as if it was taken yesterday.
In addition, Eric and Pierre, who shot this video, are legendary figures also known as the original bootleggers, and the famous video of the “1984 Tour” shot at the same “Montreal Forum” was also shot by this duo. Also, speaking of the “Montreal Forum”, audience shots are a staple after Sammy Hagar joined in 1986 and even in Dave’s solo. The shooting sense is very similar at the same venue, and it is said that it is the work of these two people.
A complete version of the traditional recording that exceeds the press title, and the original master of the historical video. Both are decisive sets that update the highest peak quality of the cultural heritage records that have symbolized the “HIDE YOUR SHEEP Tour”. This is a three-disc set that we would like to fully recommend to those who have been familiar with the conventional masters, as well as those who are experiencing the “HIDE YOUR SHEEP Tour” for the first time. Please enjoy it to the fullest.

★ A superb recording of the “Montreal performance on October 27, 1982″ + full video audience set. Both are legendary records that have long symbolized the “HIDE YOUR SHEEP Tour”, and the recording edition (DISC 1-2) is a complete 2nd generation version that surpasses the old press masterpiece, and the video edition (DISC 3) is a newly excavated original master. This is a 3-disc set that we highly recommend not only to those who have been familiar with the traditional masters, but also to those who are experiencing the “HIDE YOUR SHEEP Tour” for the first time.
