Notes:
Here we have another totally unheard, uncirculated soundboard recording of Van Halen during their Diver Down tour (Hide Your Sheep tour) in 1982. This is the third of three consecutive nights Van Halen played at the Worcester Centrum in 1982. It appears that not even an audience recording of these Worcester shows have circulated previously.

Besides this tape and the recording of the first night in Worcester that was shared two days ago, only two other soundboard recordings from their 1982 tour have ever circulated: a quite muffled-sounding tape source of the first Dallas show, and the audio from the Largo proshot house feed.

The first side of the 90 minute master tape runs out during Everybody Wants Some, but is flipped in time to capture Dave’s banter that followed. On the second side, the tape was deliberately stopped again following Somebody Get Me A Doctor, so we’re missing Dave’s acoustic guitar and singing bit, Ice Cream Man, Intruder, Pretty Woman, and the first few minutes of Eddie’s guitar solo. The tape was likely stopped right here to be able to capture more of the end of the show. In comparison with the recording of the first night, the tape here actually captures the Happy Trails a cappella and the reprise of You Really Got Me, completing the end of the concert.

This is essentially the raw transfer, since I overall prefer doing as little editing as possible. Besides, I am not the right person to be doing any sort of worthwhile mastering work. The manual azimuth adjustment was done by briefly listening to the tape playing into a mono feed, with stereo headphones.

Enjoy the music and be grateful we are able hear these special recordings. If you have uncirculated tapes, please consider sharing them before they end up forever lost to time.

The Centrum, Worcester, Massachusetts, USA 24th October 1982 STEREO SBD

★First ever appearance of soundboard!!!

 Super shock! A completely unreleased soundboard album from the “DIVER DOWN” era has been unexpectedly unearthed!! Two press 2CDs will be released simultaneously to permanently preserve the transcendent sound that is currently shocking collectors all over the world!
 This work is the second part of a two-part release. It is a stereo soundboard recording of the “Worcester performance on October 24, 1982″. Not only are the two works released in this series close in time, but the venue is also the same. For an overview of the “HIDE YOUR SHEEP Tour”, please refer to the commentary of the sister work “WORCESTER 1982 1ST NIGHT: SOUNDBOARD (Zodiac 700)” released at the same time, and focus on the main leg “North America # 3″ and check their relative positions.

● Details of “North America # 3″
・ October 7-11 (4 performances)
* October 12 “LARGO 1982″
・ October 16-20 (3 performances)
* October 22 “WORCESTER 1982 1ST NIGHT”
・ October 23: Worcester performance
* October 24: Worcester performance ← ★ This work ★
・ October 26-December 11 (27 performances)

 38 performances. Three consecutive nights were performed in Worcester, and this work is the final day. It was also 12 days (6 performances) after the standard professional shot “LARGO 1982″. This day was a hidden place where audience recording was unknown, just like “WORCESTER 1982 1ST NIGHT”, but this work is a sound board that will imprint a show that no one has ever heard into your brain.
 In the first place, it is a shock that it is the first time in the world that has jumped over 42 years of time and space, but the essential sound quality is not that. It is not an FM broadcast or an official recording, but it was recorded directly from the mix desk at the concert site and digitized directly from the original cassette. In other words, it is the most faithful record of the “sound” emitted from the hands and throat of the original VAN HALEN.
 In fact, its vividness and clarity without deterioration are other dimensions. The feel of the fingers rubbing the guitar / bass strings, the recoil of the skin of each drum, and the breath of the vocals through the wire mesh of the microphone … each one of them is engraved in the brain with a sense of reality. The pleasure of the breathing of the original four people and the whole body matching perfectly. It’s an other-dimensional immersive experience, as if you had become a cyborg and been incorporated into the 1982 PA system.
 This other-dimensional experience is also shared by the sister work “WORCESTER 1982 1ST NIGHT,” but the contents are actually different. I think the set list at the venue is probably the same (after all, there was no audience recording on either day, so I can’t say for sure), but the pause part, which was due to the remaining tape, is different. Finally, let’s organize it by comparing them.

● Diver Down (6 songs)
・The Full Bug/Little Guitars/Where Have All The Good Times Gone!/Hang ‘Em High/Cathedral/Secrets
● Others (10 songs)
・Fuse of Fire: Runnin’ With The Devil/Jamie’s Cryin’/Ain’t Talkin’ Bout Love/You Really Got Me
・Legendary Bomber: Dance The Night Away/Somebody Get Me A Doctor/Bottoms Up! (★)
・Others: Romeo Delight/Unchained/Everybody Wants Some!! (*)
*Note: * indicates songs with missing recordings. ★ indicates songs that cannot be heard on the sister album “WORCESTER 1982 1ST NIGHT: SOUNDBOARD” released at the same time.

…And so on. It’s nice that this album includes “Bottoms Up!” instead of “(Oh) Pretty Woman”. Even “You Really Got Me,” which ended abruptly on “1ST NIGHT,” is about four and a half minutes longer, and you can enjoy the included “Happy Trails” and the ending (there is a pause in “Everybody Wants Some!!” as well, and there are cuts in the guitar phrases before the songs start on “Bottoms Up!” and “You Really Got Me”).
 I never thought that two new excavation sound boards, which are shocking all over the world, would appear at the same time. Two consecutive direct-connected dimensional sound boards that synchronize the whole body with the original VAN HALEN. This is a genuine excavation that we would like all sisters to experience, no matter what!

★ Stereo sound board recording of the “October 24, 1982 Worcester performance (3rd day)”. This is the first public sound board that is astonishing all over the world, and it has been digitized from the original cassette recorded directly from the on-site mix desk. It is the most faithful record of the “sound” emitted from the hands and throat of the original VAN HALEN. The vividness is overwhelming, and the sense of synchronization where the whole body and the ensemble match perfectly is a pleasure of another dimension. This is a shocking new masterpiece that you can enjoy “Bottoms Up!”, which is not included in the sister work “1ST NIGHT (Zodiac 700)”.

★ It will be released with a numbered sticker.
