The video, titled ‘Sandman Swat,’ has received varying reactions from viewers. One of them criticized the use of the band’s 1991 song by commenting: “I don’t know what was the point of this. Does Mr. Roth want to be in a cop-action movie or Netflix show? A Metallica song from 23 years ago, when Mr. Roth would have never toured with them because, at the time, he would’ve been the opening act…” Another person pointed out the clip’s editing and remarked: “This is like the YouTube channel of a kid who just discovered Adobe Premiere.” Roth announced his retirement a few years ago and hasn’t gone out on a tour ever since. That’s why, referring to the track’s lyrics, a user said: “Is ‘off to never never land’ code for going on tour?” With all the chatter, some fans started to wonder if Roth might be hinting at teaming up with Metallica. There are no official explanations or announcements supporting that, but there’s a chance of seeing him get back on stage or hit the recording studio. While the singer retired from touring, he didn’t shut down the possibility of future shows and projects, as he told Fox News: “There’s always a tomorrow for a singer, not so much for a trombone player these days. How many times did Rocky retire? Seven. I think No. 3 was my favorite? How many times did Rambo have to come out of retirement in order to make the sequel?” In fact, Roth even joined Royal Machines on stage a few months ago. Plus, he kept making music by re-recording some Van Halen songs for his ‘Roth Lives!’ project. Last time, he re-recorded the band’s 1978 track, ‘Atomic Punk,’ and shared it on YouTube in June. You can listen to it and watch the singer’s recent ‘Sandman Swat’ video above. ronQuote |
