Dutchie (1802) | I was just watching “Professor of Rock” on youtube (highly recommend this guys show) and today’s show is about The Doobie Brothers and particularly the song “Black Water”, which was produced by Ted Templeman. About half way through, they are talking about Ted’s vocal past and one of the Doobies says that Ted sang a lot of BV’s on a lot of VH songs and references DTNA… Has anybody heard this before? I honestly cant remember if I have or haven’t…. I have not read Greg Renoff’s book on Ted so I dont know if its mentioned in it… Around the 7 minute mark.. . DutchieQuote |

ffoner (1089) | Yes, Ted sang on a few VH songs – he used to double bg Ed’s parts on occasion to flesh out the harmonies. Dance the Night Away is one for sure. It is referenced in the Ted autobiography. Ted also sang on “Without You” by Doobies … and on (Straight to Your Heart) Like a Cannonball by Van Morrison. You can hear him on the tail end of “Lotta Love” by Nicolette. Recall that Ted was a singer in Harper’s Bizarre, so he was quite the accomplished vocalist. ffonerQuote |
