SOUNDWAVE MELBOURNE March1 2013

Me & a good friend went to Soundwave Melbourne yesterday.
Not a big fan of the festivals but it was a great day.Gates opened at 11am got there about 11.30 straight into the beers and ready to rock.
They have 6 stages with various bands playing at same times to move crowd around.
There was over 40 bands there but we most went to see Metallica ,Anthrax, Duff McKangans Loaded, Kyuss Lives & Bullet For My Valentine.
Blink 182, Linkin Park did not do much for me.Was going to check out Offspring & Garbage but there times classed with other bands.
Metallica were great but Kyuss Lives were awesome..Crowd loved them..Always liked their song Green Machine form 1989.
Duff’s Loaded was great small crowd to watch him.He crowd surfed while playing guitar, then when he lefted to go to his car he came out right near us & I got a hand shake from him..Cool guy.
Crowd was massive Sydney had 75,000 think Melbourne would have been close.We were close for a few bands but moved back for Metallica as most of the crowd was moving towards their stage & it was hard to move..As you will see in some photos.
They had a good system were there is a barrier around main stages with gates to get through.There is a green light to go into that area until it is full.Then light goes red & security stop letting people into that area.No under 15 year olds & under allowed in there.
The idea of standing in one area for nearly 12 hours is bull shit but this was ok moving around..A young crowd here but think Stone Festival in Sydney will be mixed ages..The thought of standing there for 10 hours to see VH will break us but what do you do? At least we in a sectioned off area in front of stage.
Anyway Soundwave was great and surprise of the day was Kyuss Lives.
My bud flew back to his home in Queensland this morining and saw Duff’s band, Linkin Park & Bullet For My Valentine guys at the Airport.
