I’m dead serious about the location and distance. Funny thing … I’m pretty sure that shot was taken by the usher behind me because I saw him snapping pics.
I assumed since I had a reservation – I was in. But as it turned out, I got the sixth seat from the end in the very last row. So almost all of the 50 or so people behind me in line didn’t get in – even though they also had reservations (they came through earlier and made sure everyone in line had a reservation vice only being on the wait list – or not having anything at all).
You guys are going to love the video of this. Ed looked perfectly comfortable throughout the whole thing. And the host (a smokin’ hot Chinese-American lady) did a really good job of keeping things flowing – but at the same time – letting Ed talk. In fact, fairly early on, Ed realized that he had been talking for a minute or two straight and said something about rambling on and getting off topic – and the host said something like, “Not at all. It’s all very fascinating.”
A lot of what Ed said was stuff that we have heard before, but even when he was telling those stories, he added a lot of what I’m pretty sure are new (and interesting) details.
At one point, he strapped on the guitar (black Wolfie) talked his way through the whole thing about how he came to start tapping,etc. he played snippets of several songs (Mean Streets, Eruption, and a few others).
By the way – I didn’t bother trying to film (I’m pretty sure I could have got away with it) because I knew the whole thing was being professionally filmed and would be available almost immediately.
Although … Ed did drop an f-bomb. Wonder if they’re going to edit that out??
PT5150: I see Ben from VanHalen.net had photos with Ed & Wolf. On his Facebook page.
They had a reception afterwards that included wine, soda, and snacks (all free! well … maybe not free … taxpayers payed for it probably). So I’m sure there was ample opportunity to get photos with the brothers and Wolfie. I couldn’t stick around though because I had to get home and take my wife to Thursday Night Bingo (I shit you not!).
