guitard: As far as I know, everyone in the original band is still alive and well.In fact, they are surprisingly well these days.So the notion that drug use led to everyone’s demise is pure hyperbole.

It is not even hyperbole. It is flat-out wrong.

Cut2TheCrash: I think in this context he was using the word “demise” in place of the word break-up . That would be my guess

If that was the case it would be the “band’s demise”. Demise in the sense it is used in the blurb (most likely not written by Monk) signifies death.
